Harvard Medical Doctor Warns Against Smart Meters

by Sarah Pope / Affiliate Links ✔

smart meter dangersDr. David Carpenter MD, a graduate of Harvard Medical School and a physician who has worked in the area of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and public health for over 18 years, has a few choice words for power companies that are forcing smart meters down the throats of their customers all over the United States.

Dr. Carpenter adamantly insists that there is no evidence whatsoever that smart meters are in any way safe for human beings.  He goes on to say that there is, in fact, ample evidence that demonstrates “convincingly and consistently” that exposure to radiofrequency radiation (RFR) at elevated levels for long periods of time increases the risk of cancer, damages the nervous system, and adversely affects the reproductive organs.

Dr. Carpenter says that an informed person should demand that they be allowed to keep their analog meter.

The two minute video interview with Dr. Carpenter below is well worth watching.

If you are having smart meters forced upon you where you live, know that California power customers have recently won the battle to keep their analog meters.   There is both an annual and monthly charge for this “inconvenience” to the power utilities, but at least customers now have a choice to opt out where they did not before.

This precedent for opting out in California should make it easier for others with smart meters who don’t want them in other areas of the United States to be able to get their analog meters back as well.

While smart meters reduce workload and increase profitability for the power companies, they do so at the expense of the health of their customers.  Opting out is the only “smart” way to deal with this corporate incursion.

Smart Meter Dangers – Video

Here is what one prominent industry expert who is also a medical doctor has to say about smart meters. Don’t wait until you have a health problem likely caused or exacerbated by these devices. Be proactive to protect your family!

Note that this does not necessarily include the very similar looking AMR devices.

Can’t Get Rid of Your Smart Meter Right Now?

If you live in a rental property or cannot afford to pay the extortion fee charged by utility companies to remove your smart meter and reinstall an analog, I would recommend getting a device called a Smart Meter Guard (check it out here).

It has been proven to cut 98% of the radiation from a smart meter! Better yet, the power company won’t balk if you use it as long as you don’t break the security seal (don’t EVER do this!). My friend Beth from Minnesota emailed me about it recently as she was informed about this new device by a building biologist who works for the company Intentional Environment.

There are now two other less expensive competitive products, the Smart Meter Cover (available here) and the Smart Meter Shield (available here).

Having one of these smart meter safety devices installed at your home is a must.

Well…thank God it’s a “Harvard Medical Doctor”, otherwise I would not have taken this story seriously…What if it was a doctor from Northwest Central Eastern Rhode Island State University? This is straight up paranoia and nothing more…move along…nothing to see here.

Very interesting article and discussion here in the comment section. Thank you for sharing this. Here in Toronto we have the option to have the smart meter removed – as my neighbour has done. He, however, has gone all the way to protect himself and his wife (they are elderly) including removing all cordless phones and replacing them with plug-in and low frequency phones (they bought us some too) and covering their house in mesh to keep the radio waves out.

Unfortunately, there is some misinformation on their side, that wifi only for a shortened period of time can cause illness from exposure, when in fact any illness they are suffering is likely due to long periods of exposure to the many household items they used, such as, vacuum cleaner, microwave, cell phones, computer, etc.

It’s always a good idea to minimize exposure to anything dangerous, however, to be 100% free of anything electronic it seems heading into the country – off the grid as it were – is the best option.

Thanks again for this great article and I’ll be back for sure!

From the Wikipedia page on smart meters…

Members of the California State Assembly asked the California Council on Science and Technology (CCST) to study the issue of potential health impacts from smart meters. CCST issued a report in April 2011 finding no health impacts, based both on lack of scientific evidence of harmful effects from radio frequency (RF) waves and also on the observation that the RF exposure of people in their homes to smart meters is likely to be minuscule compared to RF exposure to such items as cell phones and microwave ovens.

Ours just got switched over. I pushed it with the company as much as I could, but we still had to eventually get it. Sarah, could you do a follow up blog to this looking at if there’s anything we can do to make our homes safer once these things are installed, for those of us who now have them?

There are many sources of radio waves around us all the times. TV, 2 way radios, computer wireless systems, radio etc, etc, etc….

    Anything electrical will produce EMFs.

It’s all around us at all times.

The power company installed a smart meter at our place. I can’t wait until they start using it so I can stop reading the meter. One less thing to do….

    RELAX PEOPLE!

We opted out, but for privacy reasons and to (hopefully) prevent the power company from controling our energy use in the future (that’s where government intrusion comes in; if they start passing laws in an effort to “fix” so-called global warming, they’ll use any means they can to reach into our private lives, ie more taxes, regulations, and using power companies to literally reach into our homes to turn off our appliances). So, add health concerns to the above, and there’s 3 really good reasons to opt out if you’re able, or to make a stink about it if you’re not.
