Five safe, non-toxic remedies to consider for relief from bladder infections (UTIs) and which to choose based on the specific symptoms experienced.
How common is this scenario? The agony of a bladder infection, also called a urinary tract infection (UTI), with its urgency, pain and uncomfortable sensations hits you suddenly without warning. The doctor predictably responds with a prescription for an antibiotic even if you are pregnant!
Is there really no other option?!
Instead of waiting rooms, co-pays and condescending glances, keep the following list of bladder infection remedies handy and choose the one that best matches the totality of your symptoms.
For lack of space, I’ve included only a few bladder infection remedies from which to choose, because they’re the most common. If you don’t get good results, then contact your homeopath who has other bladder infection remedies that might more closely suit you.
Meanwhile, you’re likely to cure yourself without the mallet of drugs that damage your gut and perhaps even your longterm health.
Once you’ve chosen the correct bladder infection remedy based on symptoms that are presenting, use it in the 30th potency every 3-4 hours. If symptoms are severe, the selected remedy may be given every 1-3 hours. Stop when there’s significant improvement. This may take up to 4 doses.
If there’s no change, then consider the next best choice. In either case, once you make your choice, stay with it until it proves incorrect.
Home Bladder Infection Remedies
Cantharis 30: This is the remedy for those who have a strong sense of urgency. Yet, very little is voided upon reaching the bathroom. The sufferer may be compelled to rush to the toilet and may even lose urine on the way.
Sometimes there’s a sense of frenzied desperation that accompanies the infection and the pain may make this symptom worse. Burning pain is also a strong indication for Cantharis and increased sexual interest may be noted.
Berberis 30: When there are burning pains in the urethra which are made better with urination, try this remedy. During urination, there may be pain in the loins and thighs. The urine may have thick mucus or have bright red, mealy sediment; it may also be pale yellow. After urination, there is the feeling that urine remains.
The kidneys might feel sore, bubbling, and burning, while a cutting and burning pain is felt in the bladder. There may also be sticking and violent pains which travel from the kidneys into the bladder and urethra.
Sarsaparilla 30: A bladder infection requiring Sarsaparilla involves pain that is most concentrated at the end of urination. The urine flows in dribbles and sometimes the woman is unable to completely void her bladder unless standing. This remedy is useful for when the pain is burning, but pain may not be the most pressing symptom.
Pulsatilla 30: This is the remedy of choice if the girl leaks urine while coughing, laughing, or sneezing. She’s often a soft, round, and feminine-type who gets weepy when she gets these infections. Nausea and other gastrointestinal issues may also be present, particularly from eating ice cream or other rich, creamy foods. Urination may smart, but it’s nowhere near as painful as the picture presented by the other remedies.
Emotionally Rooted UTI Relief
Staphysagria 30: This remedy has a reputation for aiding women who suffer UTIs after being abused, either physically or emotionally, or after a recent embarrassment. Sometimes there’s a sense of shame that accompanies the symptoms.
So common is Staphysagria in this malady that it ought to be considered if no other remedy seems to fit the “picture” of the symptoms. It’s also the most common choice for infections that arise after sexual activity.
When you first start learning about homeopathy, selecting the correct remedy for yourself or a family member can seem tricky. Homeopathy is person-specific, rather than illness-specific so it requires thoughtfulness and analysis.
But don’t give up. These bladder infection remedies really work!
Once you’ve experienced the thrill of bringing real resolution to an illness, it’s a feeling of accomplishment that you’ll want to experience again.
‘Cause you did it yourself!

sounds like you became septic. I’m glad you got treatment before it was fatal. I’m paralyzed, so UTIs are common. I became uroseptic once and I had to get antibiotics in the hospital. My blood pressure hasn’t been the same since.

I have been struggling with UTIs since I was 18 years old and the Lady Soma Cranberry Pills work faster than other products to relieve the pain with my UTIs. I use this while I am waiting to get in to see the doctor to relieve my pain and/or while I am waiting the the antibiotics to start working which usually takes anywhere from 12-24 hours.
This stuff helps to alleviate the pain (burning, urgency, etc) associated with UTIs within 20-40 minutes of taking the pills.

Definitely eat more foods with Vitamin C because large amounts of vitamin C make urine more acidic which stops the growth of bacteria in your urinary tract. I do eat of oranges but if I feel a UTI coming on, I take the Lady Soma Cranberry Concentrate with Vitamin C (I take double the dosage the first time) and the UTI never comes on.

This can be obtained from herbal stores. Collect handful of gokshura seeds, dry them in shade.

Hello. I know comments were last 2013 but I found this thread whilst searching Google for essential oils to help treat a UTI. I am a 37 year old female. I have had a few UTI in my life but probably only about 10. However 2 years ago I developed a UTI due to poor sanitation. (We were out in the sticks and I had my monthly.) Needless to say I got a UTI the next day. I tried everything natural as I’ve always done so. I don’t believe in antibiotics. I suffered for two weeks and unfortunately it turned into a chronic kidney infection in which I landed up in bed for 10 days in the most pain I couldn’t even begin to describe. My husband took me to my homeopath (who is also a qualified GP)who was very worried and said she would give me one treatment and only wait one day and if things didn’t improve i would have to go on antibiotics as it was very very serious. By now I could hardly walk as I hadn’t been able to leave my bed for over a week. I was weak and had lost a lot of weight. I took her remedy Arsenicum and got worse that night (which often happens in homeopathic remedies) but woke up feeling so much better the next morning. It took me weeks to get over it properly as it really affected my immunity and strength and only 6 months later was I my normal self again. PLEASE don’t play around with UTI. You don’t want a kidney infection. I’ve had two children and the pain is more than both combined. You writhe in agony with added migraine /nausea. I really thought I was going to die. Since then I’ve had one bladder infection (two years later) and have had for a week. I tried canthris, nux vom, pulsitilla, copius amounts of water, I’m already on a probiotic too. Also dmannose. The dmannose helps a lot. But it wasn’t going. Then I took Arsenicum as I remembered the remedy and my mother-in-law had some. I took it during the course of the day and at night and when I woke up I could feel it had gone from a bladder infection to a lower urethra infection as the only discomfort I have now is a slight burn. I can feel it is working its way out. I’m still doing the dmannose and drinking a lot of water and rooibos and chamomile tea. I hope this helps someone. I would recommend the first sign of a UTI to see a homeopathic the right remedy for you. As you can see not all remedys work but when you hit on the right one for your body’s needs you are sorted.

what dosage did you use for the Arsenicum. I ordered some of the other stuff that was recommended. Thanks for any help.

I have been prone to Urinary Tract Infections my whole life. I’ve probably tried every home remedy that I could find out on the market today! DO NOT drink Cranberry Cocktail–theres a lot of sugar in it and it will just aggravate your condition further.) Cranberry Juice has a dry taste for me, so I haven’t always been a huge fan of
The Lady Soma cranberry Concentrate is a great alternative – I take it in the morning when I take my regular vitamins. I have made it part of my regular routine so that my body is prepared if another Urinary Tract Infection is lurking in the shadows. These pills are small and easy to swallow as well as not having any taste. Good Luck!

Ive tried many products recommended by my naturopath. But my bladder infections were becoming unbearable. Antibiotics are what got me into this mess in the first place!
I took the Lady Soma Cranberry Pills full dose each day for about a week, I felt less inflammation in my gut and food felt easier to digest. It’s been a couple weeks now, and I’m feeling overall less fatigued and having fewer headaches. Meanwhile, I haven’t changed anything else in my daily routine.

I’m 49 years old and was suffering from urinary tract infection. I was facing extreme difficulty as I have to pass frequent urine. It also leads to recurrent infection. My physician advised me to go for surgery, but I wanted to avoid it. Then, I tried to find some herbal treatment for prostate problem and read about Divya Chandraprabha Vati. I read about all the ingredients of this product and started taking it. I took it for three to four weeks and found to be an extremely useful remedy for the prostate hypertrophy. Now, I’m better and there is great relief from urinary tract infection.

I had a UTI for over a week and could not kick it with my ordinary cranberry-pill regime. I bought Lady Somas Cranberry pills , and I kicked my UTI within a couple of hours.

I get fast results from drinking water with a tiny bit of tea tree oil in it a few times a day. I used to take cranberry tablets, but have switched to tea tree ever reading about it in an aromatherapy book. My book says 1-3 drops, but I just pour a little dribble in the cup of water. I start it at the first twinges of one, and it gets better very quickly. Drinking lots of water is very helpful as well.
