The expansion of Medical Fascism in the United States continues unabated.
Just a few days ago, Kristen LaBrie, the loving, caring mother of a severely autistic boy suffering from non-Hodgkins lymphoma, received the shockingly brutal sentence of 8-10 years for withholding chemo meds from her son because she could not bear the pain and suffering the side effects caused him.
Is this where our society has come? A grieving Mother who made the call to withhold chemo meds out of compassion is convicted of attempted murder?
Prosecutors argued that the cancer that Jeremy suffered from had a “cure” rate of 85-90% under the barbaric, two year treatment plan proposed by his oncologist.
Ms. LaBrie followed doctor’s orders for the majority of the treatment, but failed to follow through in the final months as the side effects made Jeremy so sick she was afraid the meds would kill him in his very fragile state of health.
LaBrie admitted being remorseful for her actions because she missed her son and thinks about him every day. Should she be punished when there is no guarantee that Jeremy would even be alive today if she had administered the chemo meds? Surely her grief is punishment enough?
All this verdict does is ominously send a message to other parents that refusing conventional medical treatment is a FELONY same as if you held a gun to someone’s head.
How insane is that logic?
Ms. LaBrie’s older son Matthew wrote a letter pleading for leniency for his Mother. He described her as “unbelievably kind, caring and devoted” to her autistic son Jeremy. In addition, dozens of letters of support from doctors and nurses with autistic children were submitted to the judge asking for similar leniency.
In the end, the judge refused any such leniency and instead described Ms. LaBrie’s choices as “acts that really do chill one’s soul”.
I’ll tell you what chills my soul – judges who are unable to acknowledge that a parent has the right to choose treatment for his or her sick child as well as the freedom to change direction when a chosen treatment is obviously causing undue pain and distress – whatever the outcome.
Judges have no business playing God and asking “what ifs” in situations such as this no matter what probabilities for “successful” treatment Big Pharma robot oncologists spout on the witness stand.
There is no doubt that Ms. LaBrie has unwittingly become a symbol of the dire need for some sort of Medical Freedom Act in this country. Shackling parents and hauling them away is not the answer.

This should send a wake up call to EVERYONE in the U.S.!!!! The freedoms that we have all taken for granted have been taken away! Right in front of our eyes! Speak up and tell people to PAY ATTENTION! I have worked in healthcare for 26 years; you would be shocked at the things I have seen! A wise and compassionate doctor once told me, “You KNOW, it is my best, scientific guess as to what to do for your Dad’s cancer..” I was so grateful for the honesty, even though I already knew it in my heart. We have been taught to follow MINDLESSLY! When we question, we get in trouble with the thought police! Every person comes to the point that they must decide what they trust and believe in… THAT IS FREEDOM!!! Thank you Sarah! We must NEVER stop THINKING and LEARNING! I am praying that sanity will prevail for this poor mother. God bless and SAVE America.
Truly despicable. We are living in a police state that views kids as their top prey to poison to death with toxic “treatments.”
Wow, that is insane. Chilling. How is the US better than the Nazis now? Forcing deadly chemicals on people. We really need that Parental Rights amendment! (have you signed it?)
I don’t see how they are taking this woman away from her other children! And I didn’t know the father had died! Now it seems even worse to leave her other son with no one.

Once again, you are posting about what is on my heart. I have a draft in my blog for a post on Parental Rights. Did you see the news out of my state, Michigan on the child taken away from her mother because she withheld meds?
I guess I now have the impetus to go ahead and post. Thanks as always for being willing to take a stand for the right things.
Not to mention that we’ve got plenty of REAL criminals free on the streets, and we’re going to lock up this innocent gal?

I second Tara’s question….Is there any way to help this woman? Even an address where letters of support can reach her?
My 7 year son was diagnosed w/leukemia in Jan. It has been so hard watching the side effects from chemo wear on his body. I have thought about taking him off chemo. He is a different boy. His face is different, he acts different, he smells strange. I love him so much. I can’t even imagine what a painful choice it must have been for the Mother to take him off the chemo. My son has undetectable levels of cancer, but still he has to stay on chemo for over 2 1/2 more years. If it were a differnt type of cancer I might have opted out of chemo for my son. Is there anyway to help this woman?
Tara, I am so sorry to hear of your circumstance. I cannot imagine what you are going through as well. I”ll be praying that God will give you the wisdom, grace, and peace that only He can bring.
