The compelling article written by Dr. Judene Smith DDS about minimally invasive dentistry and how it ignores strong scientific evidence about how cavities heal really brought out the drill-happy dentists in droves! It seems they are unaware of the study published in 2019 in the peer-reviewed journal Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology that demonstrated over a 7 year period that no drill dentistry works.
As anecdotal evidence to the emerging scientific consensus on the matter, I am presenting a series of photographs sent to me by Rami Nagel, author of the paradigm-shattering book Cure Tooth Decay.
*Another photographed case of resolving cavities is found in this article more pictures of remineralizing caries.
The photos are of an 18-month-old child from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Rikki, the boy’s mother, took these photos as her son’s cavities remineralized over a period of 8 weeks after commencing a dietary program that included supplementing with unprocessed cod liver oil and high vitamin butter oil.  It is important to note that regular cod liver oil found in health food stores will not produce the same spectacular results you see in these photos. Why? These are processed and fortified with synthetic vitamins that are not effective.
The sad truth is that when a parent brings in a child with significant tooth decay, toxic, IQ lowering fluoride treatments, drilling/filling or even crowns and root canals are recommended on baby teeth!  These treatments which can be incredibly expensive are not necessary as in a majority of cases, children’s teeth will quickly remineralize with dietary intervention. Adult teeth with cavities will heal in a similar fashion as long as they have never been drilled or compromised by dental treatments in the past.
What Did This Child Eat That Caused These Cavities?
Possibly the most shocking thing about this story is that this toddler was not eating a junk food diet when these cavities formed. Â He was still breastfeeding and eating an all-organic diet. His favorite foods consisted of graham crackers and flaxseed bread. Â He also was fond of organic granola bars which he ate regularly.
The problem with store-bought whole grain products is that they are high in antinutrients like phytic acid that block mineral absorption. These foods are not a good choice for regular consumption by growing children.
Rikki’s son also ate fruits and vegetables and organic eggs although his mother avoided butter and milk thinking they were bad for him. After reading Cure Tooth Decay, she realized that butter and milk from grass-fed cows are very healing and strengthening for teeth and bones. Grass-fed dairy also counteracts some (but not all) of the negative effects of the toxins and anti-nutrients in processed grain products from the store.
Foods That Healed this Child’s Teeth
Rikki implemented 4 major changes to her son’s diet in order to achieve the results you see below.
- She cut out grains and sugars. This reduced the mineral depletion from the commercial grains and sugar.
- She started giving him Green Pasture’s Royal Blend (a combination product of high vitamin cod liver oil and butter oil) which gave her son the needed fat-soluble vitamins to remineralize his teeth.
- Her son now gets unpasteurized dairy regularly including real raw milk cheese and fermented vegetables like pickles.
- Their family uses butter liberally, and Rikki makes homemade broth and soups from pasture-raised chicken.
Unfortunately, the earliest picture is of the teeth after 1 week on the new dietary protocol described in Cure Tooth Decay.  There wasn’t a control picture available of what the cavities looked like before any changes were made. Even still, the visual healing that takes place is compelling and should give every parent hope that cavity problems can be dealt with at home with simple dietary changes in the majority of cases.
Will these dietary interventions be easy? Most definitely not if a conventional diet is being followed. For those already eating a whole foods-based diet in their home, the changes are much easier to accomplish. Far and away the most difficult change to implement for cavity-prone children especially if they attend school is eliminating processed grain-based foods.

Some Dude in Cali
The day I stopped brushing my teeth completely is when I stopped having dental problems. My dentist really had a hard time accepting this, but has accepted the fact that I do not brush or floss but have extremely healthy teeth.

Cali Dude, I do have one question, what do you do when food gets caught in your teeth? Maybe you are just really young, I noticed “Stuff Gets Stuck In Teeth” was a weird/funny when shared with friends when we turned 30. 🙂
Thanks in advance!

Can you chew Spry chewing gum when you’re on this diet?
Meagan
I’m afraid my son may be getting a cavity. He is on a mostly AIP diet with me and cannot eat dairy because he is allergic. He’s also allergic to eggs. He does eat fruit, but no grains and no juices. I recently started giving him fermented cod liver oil, but cannot do any of the blends since they contain dairy. Do you have any recommendations without any butter or milk?
marc
I have milk allergy with a few tips.
my research has pointed me towards…
1.cows with less of the allergy causing “casine” (milk protein) .
Note- not all casine is the same, less allergy causing the closer the cow is to natural conditions. a great example is in the Hindu Culture, they treat cows as family members, the casine is very close to the undomesticated ansystor with about 90% non-allergy causing Casine & 10% allergy causing “casine”
Casine Types – Casine is a protien, Protein is made of diffiernt amino acids grouped together, allergy causing caseine contains the amino acid “histadine” while non alergy causing Casine has the amino acid “proline”
allergy causing casine (BCM7 – Beta Caso-morphine) – has opoid recepter cell activity when it is broken down intestinally, called “poly-morphism”
2. Raw Milk, unlike Pasturized. Raw milk has the probiotic (enzyme) “Lactase”.
Lactase assists in the break down of the sugar lactose.
Note- high quality milk from cows in Pristine conditions, having less contact with their excretions… food pathogens like “ecoli” are promoted with waste contamination.
differenct from a few cows graizing on a large grass pasture

Look for grass fed cows with A2-A2 beta casine for your raw milk.

Help! I had several fillings done before I found out about healing naturally! They were deep and ended up touching the nerve/root in some places. I am having more pain and the dentist said I need a root canal. I am making big adjustments in my diet and doing salt switching and oil pulls as well as taking homeopathic nerve pain supplements. Is there something I can do to settle the nerves in my damaged/filled teeth down so that I can stop having cold/hot/sweet/hard pain and avoid the root canal?? Thanks for any help!!
Christopher
I’m so sorry to hear this Lauren! It’s possible the fillings are such that you’ll need this kind of intervention, but then again, perhaps not. I think that if you switch to a radically healthy diet with ample mineralization of your bones and teeth: fermented cod liver oil, raw milk or butter, daily green smoothie, and avoid processed sugar, oatmeal and anything you think might inhibit this program of healing (do a search for heal tooth decay, a lot of the suggestions corroborate, so it’s pretty easy to get a sense of what to eat), you just might find you no longer have the pain, and any issues are healing and improving. I believe you were meant not to feel this pain, and that the body can heal itself with a little time and nutrition. Please avoid any factory farmed meat and dairy; they will only degrade your condition further. I think oil pulling daily is wonderful. I do it. I wish you the best of luck. Trust your intuition on what you read and please get the cod liver oil and raw milk, butter or kefir. I think fermented is best on the cod liver oil. BlueMountainIce is a good grand. Good luck!

I’m definitely open-minded about alternative methods of cavity treatment, but I’m a bit skeptical about these particular photos. I’m wondering why the cavity would have remineralized, but not the white lesions on the other teeth? Doesn’t make sense to me.
SDL
I’m wondering if the white lesions had more to do with floridosis and whether they consume flouridated water.
Randall Teunis
Could someone please provide a shopping list they use (personally or guide from a different side) to get the most recommended course for remineralization.
Pearlene Utley
how do you make ur kids take the oil pills? do you pour the into food or ?? Need to know before buying.
many thanks
cheri
Pearlene,
the oil comes in liquid or pill form. Put the liquid on their food if they will not willingly swallow pills, it doesn’t taste bad..Hiding it in scrambled pastured eggs works fine..If they won’t eat, make them sit there until they do..Can’t let the inmates run the asylum 😉

I spent this last week in extreme pain from a decaying molar. I was so close to seeing a dentist, and this was a deep cavity, pain that was growing increasingly electric. Laying down and exercise were the only activities that stopped the pain, but standing and sitting were excruciating to the point where my only solution to escape the most severe pain was to throw myself on the floor and violently kick my legs (to simulate exercise and laying down–it worked fast). It was a tiresome few days of little sleep.
I think it was day 3 of the ordeal that, throughout the day, the only thing I ate was 8 oz of RAW liver and several cups of RAW, whole milk, stopping all coffee consumption. I did not eat anything else in order to maximize the effect. The tooth pain subsided to half of what it was in roughly 12 hours from the first couple oz of liver, where I was finally able to sit up with just an annoying, mildly painful throb, but it wasn’t debilitating. It didn’t force me to exercise or lay down. 4 days later, there is no tooth pain whatsoever, and the giant cavity is not as soft as it was mere days ago.
Therapeutic doses of raw liver, raw, grass fed, whole milk are really the only things you need. It’s nothing complicated, and I did this with conventional calf liver–much less potent stuff than organic, grass-finished beef liver. And honestly? The easiest way to eat raw liver is to cut it up in chunks you can swallow whole, put a piece on your tongue, and drink it down with the milk. You will hardly even notice the texture or flavor, but you will taste the milk. I can personally handle the liver straight. If you are in extreme pain, this route is rather tempting and I highly encourage you to do the same.
I didn’t want to lose my tooth. I have so many damaged teeth from childhood dental work that has fallen out, and if that painful molar was extracted, I would never be able to chew, again. If a dentist were to fill that tooth, then it would only be a matter of time before the filling comes out and I end up unable to chew, anyway. Getting root canals are why I will not get my missing fillings restored. I don’t want dead teeth in my mouth.

Oh, another comment reminded me. I forgot to mention that, in order to remineralize my tooth, I did not brush my teeth with any pastes at all for this process, and it’s been weeks since I had used any glycerine-containing toothpastes (I only use glycerine-containing toothpastes once or twice a year), and I did coconut oil pulling feverishly each time the pain flared up. The oil pulling actually grew too painful, but it only temporarily reduced the pain the first two days before being an outright irritant.
It’s important to mention that glycerine in your toothpaste blocks remineralization. It coats your teeth and does not come off for between 25-30 brushings.

Just updating my progress, but a nice benefit to having the major cavity healed up is that not only have two smaller cavities hardened with a clear covering, but my teeth are all no longer cold sensitive, and that includes a broken-to-the-gum-line tooth, which is caused by the missing dental work that I mentioned. It broke out of structural instability from that point, and the parts that are exposed have never touched a filling. Previously, that tooth could touch nothing hot or cold without me chewing with my tongue and roof of my mouth.
The other tooth has not responded to the therapy, and it’s history is that one massive mercury filling fell out about 2 years ago, and another, bigger mercury filling on it recently fell out. The tooth has not broken from structural weakness, unlike the other. I don’t expect it to respond, either, but this tooth is why I cannot chew on my left side, not unless I want to be greeted with instant, extreme electric pain for about a week.
I’m holding onto that tooth with the hopes that I can get the means to grow it back.

Oh, wow, thank you! I never knew about the Exogen device. Oh, my. I’m excited enough to cry. I hope it works. I developed TMJ from favoring one side. I cannot thank you enough.

I have a 2 year old son and his teeth grew in decayed-looking, yellow, jagged, etc. I didn’t understand why this happened because we try to eat healthy most of the time and aren’t quick to using antibiotics. When we took him to the dentist he said that my son has enamel hypoplasia and we should take him to the nearby children’s specialty hospital to have caps put on at least 6 of his teeth under anesthesia. I want to do the best for my son, but I don’t want to put him through a procedure if it’s unnecessary. Now, from what I’ve read about cavities healing through diet and proper supplements and natural toothpaste, wouldn’t the same apply in my son’s case? I just haven’t read anything about healing enamel hypoplasia, so I was wondering if you know if this diet can help him?

Cell salts can help- calc phos and calc fluor expecially.

I wonder if your son’s problem might be from fluoridated water…
