Many people don’t realize that mollusks are the healthiest type of seafood. The reason is that these animals – oysters, clams, mussels, and scallops (with the beard), involve consuming the whole animal. Fish and shellfish involves eating only the muscle meat.
A modern bonus is that recipes using this type of food from the sea are also some of the fastest and easiest to prepare.
Some may mistakenly believe that all seafood is expensive. And while this is true for some offerings like lobster or halibut, other choices are ridiculously inexpensive. This is true even when you buy only wild like me.
For example, a healthfood store in my community has flash frozen packs of wild seafood for only $10 each. It is enough seafood to feed my family of five! It contains a mix of wild shrimp, mussels, calamari, and scallops.
