Soupmaking is unfortunately quite the lost art in our modern society! Homemade soup typically means a can of soup poured into a bowl and heated in the microwave! Or, at best, processed chicken broth from a carton (or can) warmed in a pot with added vegetables and/or meat. Sadly, this extends to most restaurants as well, which favor the use of artificial powdered soup bases to which a few fresh ingredients are added. That approach might be quick, simple and easy, but it isn’t good and healthy!
You won’t find that sort of pseudo soup on this blog! The soup recipes below are real and authentic from start to finish. This means that the broth or stock base is made yourself. That is the difference between average and GREAT soup recipes that are tasty from the nutrients. No added MSG or stealthy “natural flavors” like commercial brands!
For convenience, the broth/stock base in these soup ideas can be made ahead and frozen for quick and easy preparation as needed. Most days, my freezer is loaded with various types of frozen broths and stocks. The soups I make are truly fast food! Just a few minutes to chop and cook the veggies and meat and a quick blend with the nutritious broth base to finish it off. Dinner DONE.
