You’ve seen the commercials. All American Dad, pump sprayer in hand, attacking those pesky weeds growing in the cracks of his family’s driveway with a vengeance. He chooses Roundup, of course.
Why? Â Because Roundup kills weeds to the root so they won’t come back making you the laughingstock of your suburban neighborhood.
Roundup, Roundup everywhere. Most homeowners use it without a second thought. Many schools even use it, blithely spraying around planting beds and sidewalks where children walk and play, tracking its residues into classrooms, cars, homes and little bodies.
Roundup is indisputably the King of Herbicides and one of Monsanto’s most lucrative crown jewels. Not only is it widely used by consumers, it is also heavily used by industrial agriculture – more popular than any other herbicide worldwide. Its residues are found on the staple crops of the Western diet – sugar, corn, soy and wheat – and in the plethora of processed foods made with these foods as well. Â In particular, GMO corn and soy are heavily doused in Roundup as these crops are genetically engineered to be immune to its withering effects.
The trouble is, while Roundup is highly effective at killing weeds, it’s also proving highly effective at killing us too – slowly but surely and insidiously – via Roundup’s deadly active ingredient – glyphosate.
While the pesticide industry maintains that glyphosate is minimally toxic to humans, new research published in the Journal Entropy strongly argues otherwise by shedding light on exactly how glyphosate disrupts mammalian physiology.
Authored by Anthony Samsel and Stephanie Seneff of MIT, the paper investigates glyphosate’s inhibition of cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes, an overlooked component of lethal toxicity to mammals.
In the in-depth video interview below on her groundbreaking research, Dr. Seneff describes the mechanism by which the glyphosate in Roundup disrupts human biological processes.
The currently accepted view is that glyphosate is not harmful to humans or any mammals because the shikimate pathway found in plants is absent in animals. Â The shikimate pathway is involved with the plant’s synthesis of certain amino acids and is lethally disrupted by glyphosate.
What has been completely overlooked until now is that the shikimate pathway is present in beneficial gut bacteria, which play a critical role in human health. Gut bacteria aid digestion, prevent permeability of the gastrointestinal tract, synthesize vitamins and provide the foundation for robust immunity.
Glyphosate Disrupts the Functioning of Beneficial Gut Bacteria
In synergy with disruption of the biosynthesis of important amino acids via the shikimate pathway, glyphosate inhibits the cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes produced by the gut microbiome. CYP enzymes are critical to human biology because they detoxify the multitude of foreign chemical compounds, xenobiotics, that we are exposed to in our modern environment today.
As a result, humans exposed to glyphosate through the use of Roundup in their community or through the ingestion of its residues on industrialized food products become even more vulnerable to the damaging effects of other chemicals and environmental toxins they encounter!
What’s worse is that the negative impact of glyphosate exposure is slow and insidious over months and years as inflammation gradually gains a foothold in the cellular systems of the body.
The consequences of this systemic inflammation are most of the diseases and conditions associated with the Western lifestyle:
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Obesity
- Diabetes
- Heart Disease
- Depression
- Autism
- Infertility
- Cancer
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Alzheimer’s disease
- And the list goes on and on and on …
In summary, Dr. Seneff’s study of Roundup’s ghastly glyphosate uncovers the manner in which this lethal environmental toxin gradually and inevitably disrupts homeostasis in the human body with the tragic end result of disease, degeneration, and widespread suffering.
Still want to “shoot” those weeds this weekend with some Roundup and buy those unlabeled, GMO laced processed foods in the pretty packages at the supermarket?
In addition, Roundup residue in organic hydroponics is possible as there is no transition period from conventional farming. Stick with soil based organics!

Here’s how toxic this ‘poison’ is :- My gardener started spraying Glyphosate on weeds, on Thursday morning. I had no idea he was doing this, as he was an hour early. My beautiful 1yo cat was outside.
My previously perfectly healthy young, strong cat, seemed unwell Thursday night. Would not eat or drink. Took him to the vet, his kidneys had failed. He was immediately put on a drip but had to be put to sleep on Saturday afternoon. This was after injections to try to kick start kidneys.
I’ve now just started researching this shit, and will never again allow it anywhere near anybody in my family. It is poison.

Any help very appreciated. We became ill (family of 5) after ourneighbours showered our land with round up and brush off for years. We have moved now (abandoned our house) but i can’t find how to clean it off our furniture? Any help?
Miha K.
I know how bad roundup is, but it is the only thing effective against japanese knotweed. By using extreme caution and following safety protocol including the disposal of injected stems and leaves, I am convinced glyphosate is safe to use. Unfortunately far less care is given elsewhere on the fields where crops grow, and that’s where the problem lies.

Interesting post! I avoid RoundUp! I had great results on poison ivy with SALT base herbicide.
My recipe: 120gr per liter of water.
I have learn it on that website:

I left the house yesterday when I noticed a massive sprayer going up and down the field next to the house. I can’t stop them from spraying round up. I can leave for a short time but it’s still there when I come back. Yes, I can buy organic foods but even then, it’s in the very air we breathe and the ground from which our water supply springs. They literally sprayed gallon after gallon of the poison. I’m saddened that the American Heartland is becoming the American Deathland. The only way to stop Monsanto is with our pocketbooks. Don’t buy Round Up. Don’t buy Enlist Duo. In fact, don’t purchase anything made by Monsanto or Sygenta. Let these companies die a rapid death instead of the slow death their products are inviting us to endure.

I spray round up everyday in my work as this is my job,so will end up with all the problems which are listed in these comments.

Hope you are using all the PPE you can Organic filter mask/gloves/goggles and dont wash clothes with anyone elses and rinse washing machine after each use.Use very thing you can to isolate your exposure.Monsanto will deny deny deny the USDA is a puppet of big seed and chem producers George Bush senior put them in that seat and it has never changed since.

Anybody ever hear of a weed whacker?
Roundup and all the other chemicals people put on their lawns are toxic. Why would you put toxins where your kids play? Crazy!

I am very interested in promoting awareness of the effects of glyphosate. Could you please share your peer-reviewed research articles?

More than 90% of our grains and cereals including rice (UK and abroad) are subject to a pre-harvest spraying of roundup herbicide – a new but insane practice started in 2003. This has massively increased residue levels to 100 PPM and more, of this noxious substance in our bread and cereal. Research has clearly shown that roundup/glyphosate is responsible for cancers, endocrine disruption and cardiac arrythmia. The american government which is in the pocket of the makers of glyphosate last year massively increased the permitted residue levels in farm produce anywhere from 2 times to 25 times depending on the food stuff. Now they want to force this noxious waste and their gmo waste on europe by way of TTIP that is, if you are not already eating this garbage and you easily could be. Are you one of the million+ people who in the UK have atrial fibrillation? Bread or cereal is very possibly the cause.
