You’ve seen the commercials. All American Dad, pump sprayer in hand, attacking those pesky weeds growing in the cracks of his family’s driveway with a vengeance. He chooses Roundup, of course.
Why? Because Roundup kills weeds to the root so they won’t come back making you the laughingstock of your suburban neighborhood.
Roundup, Roundup everywhere. Most homeowners use it without a second thought. Many schools even use it, blithely spraying around planting beds and sidewalks where children walk and play, tracking its residues into classrooms, cars, homes and little bodies.
Roundup is indisputably the King of Herbicides and one of Monsanto’s most lucrative crown jewels. Not only is it widely used by consumers, it is also heavily used by industrial agriculture – more popular than any other herbicide worldwide. Its residues are found on the staple crops of the Western diet – sugar, corn, soy and wheat – and in the plethora of processed foods made with these foods as well. In particular, GMO corn and soy are heavily doused in Roundup as these crops are genetically engineered to be immune to its withering effects.
The trouble is, while Roundup is highly effective at killing weeds, it’s also proving highly effective at killing us too – slowly but surely and insidiously – via Roundup’s deadly active ingredient – glyphosate.
While the pesticide industry maintains that glyphosate is minimally toxic to humans, new research published in the Journal Entropy strongly argues otherwise by shedding light on exactly how glyphosate disrupts mammalian physiology.
Authored by Anthony Samsel and Stephanie Seneff of MIT, the paper investigates glyphosate’s inhibition of cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes, an overlooked component of lethal toxicity to mammals.
In the in-depth video interview below on her groundbreaking research, Dr. Seneff describes the mechanism by which the glyphosate in Roundup disrupts human biological processes.
The currently accepted view is that glyphosate is not harmful to humans or any mammals because the shikimate pathway found in plants is absent in animals. The shikimate pathway is involved with the plant’s synthesis of certain amino acids and is lethally disrupted by glyphosate.
What has been completely overlooked until now is that the shikimate pathway is present in beneficial gut bacteria, which play a critical role in human health. Gut bacteria aid digestion, prevent permeability of the gastrointestinal tract, synthesize vitamins and provide the foundation for robust immunity.
Glyphosate Disrupts the Functioning of Beneficial Gut Bacteria
In synergy with disruption of the biosynthesis of important amino acids via the shikimate pathway, glyphosate inhibits the cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes produced by the gut microbiome. CYP enzymes are critical to human biology because they detoxify the multitude of foreign chemical compounds, xenobiotics, that we are exposed to in our modern environment today.
As a result, humans exposed to glyphosate through the use of Roundup in their community or through the ingestion of its residues on industrialized food products become even more vulnerable to the damaging effects of other chemicals and environmental toxins they encounter!
What’s worse is that the negative impact of glyphosate exposure is slow and insidious over months and years as inflammation gradually gains a foothold in the cellular systems of the body.

Good gravy people, you want to blame roundup for communism too? While I agree we should limit exposure to chemicals this whole video grabs a few facts and the extrapolates sweeping conclusions that are IMHO totally unjustified; roundup = school shootings? Did the NRA put you up to that one? Some of the studies cited have been totally debunked, esp. the French Rat study. The anecdotes are way too sweeping as well, 30 year Crones disease disappears in three days? Really? You can heal your intestines that quickly? The final comments on how grains get sprayed with glyphosate just before harvest is almost totally untrue, most grains dry down naturally or are heat dried after harvest. In rare cases beans may get sprayed to kill vines prior to harvest, but that would be atypical. Lastly if half of this was true, most of the farmers in this country would be stone cold dead. There is a fair bit of sloppy handling of glyphosate in the field as it is viewed as very safe, and compared to most other farm chemicals it’s pretty benign stuff. All of you worried that a pinch of roundup in to soil makes you yard poisoned ought to chill out, the inflammation caused by your worries is worse than the herbicide.
Roundup, Formaldehyde in new clothing and furniture, Mycotoxins in water damaged homes and buildings, Perfumes which contain Petrochemicals, Paint fumes that disrupt our endocrine system, and the list goes on and on. If we truly want to stop attacking our bodies we must eliminate all of these things and more from our life.

Several years ago, a friend suggested I use rock salt (the kind you use in water softeners) to kill a huge poison ivy vine. It worked, and I have used it a few times since. Is there anything about this that is harmful to the environment?

Nice to find this. It was a couple of weeks ago I was using Roundup in my yard, put it on top of the grill, thinking it was out of reach of my 3yo. Well, not so much. He got his hands on it and sprayed it in his 1yo brothers face. I panicked, called Poison Control, called the ER, called my dad (a chemist), washed his face directly under the faucet. Suffice to say he’s okay. During all of that I took the container and chucked it into the garage to be thrown out with the next days’ garbage pick up. I will be trying the Vinegar solution or hot boiling water this weekend. No more chemicals in my house.

I am trying to find the answer to a problem. Why is my son has mild autism? No vaccinations, 100% organic food, and no toxic products in the house at all. My daughter has yearly signs of autism as well. I am so lost! We are on GAPS diet for more then a year. My Daughter did not have any junk food, grains and other GAPS illegal foods in her life. She was born with soft palate cleft which might be because of some nutritional deficiencies. Both kids were breast-fed for more then 1.5 year. They are pretty healthy on other hand, but why don’t they develop as other kids? I ate all organic for at least few years before my firs child was conceived. I used to have some packaged food, but primarily I always cooked my own food. I had my first baby when I was 35 and my husband was 48. We did heavy metal cleans well before conceiving. We had high mercury and I had high tin and lead levels as well.
I was always aware of GMOs and all the spraying for conventional crops. We told landscapers never spray anything on our loan. Though they never used anything really bad before.
I do not dismiss that vaccine and GMOs may cause autism and other delays in kids, but there is more to it. What could it be? It would be so easy if it was just vaccines and GMOs. I think there is something that makes a child autistic mildly and vaccines, GMOs, and other pollution just make it worse. ……. I wish it was that easy. (Yes, I really fill it is easy just to stop eating some foods, eat organic, cook your own, no GMOs, no vaccines, no chemicals. I did it all. I sacrificed my life for my kids and I have no problem doing it. I just wish I could see the difference in their condition.)

But there are also things beyond your reach, such as the pesticide use of your neighbors. What is on their lawns? What is on parks near your home? Are you in a area that has farms?
Also, there are a variety of sources of radiation, such as wifi transmitters, cell phone towers, radon… Even radioactive fallout is an issue. Radioactive contamination from Fukushima continues to spread worldwide, but the US government’s response is to stop monitoring for it. Radioactive particles from previous nuclear leaks and accidents, as well as from above ground nuclear detonations have also spread worldwide, and don’t magically go away. It is just added to “background radiation” and contributes to the rates of birth defects and cancer.
You mentioned that you had high levels of heavy metals in your body before you conceived your children. Even though you did a heavy metal cleanse, these toxins and other environmental toxins already had a chance to effect your eggs, since they were in your body since you were in your mother’s womb.
And that is why all of these health problems are such a mystery! MEM did all those things with perfectly good intentions, yet her children are showing autistic tendencies 🙁 I did none of those (fully vaccinated, eat GMO’s and non-organic, ingest chemicals (dyes, MSG, HFCS, soda, processed foods), drank caffeine and took tylenol and zantac while pregnant; lived on Cheerios, water, and peppermint mochas for the first 3 months of pregnancy; BF was unsuccessful and my babies were mostly formula fed, we get the lawn fertilized, use Round Up… yet all 3 of my kids are perfectly healthy and have not one single allergy or behavioral/developmental problem. I feel a bit guilty when so many others are suffering such difficulties. I hope soon we will figure out what causes autism and so many other health issues.
I wonder that the autistic tendencies are more due to the genetic nature of the parents. That would be my bet, rather than the degree of ‘purity’ and balance of the diet and environment.
My opinion: don’t have kids unless you’re rockin it socially and physically.

Hi MEM, I just want to comment back to you because I know your frustration. This answer might seem odd to you and most people that read it. I am just going to lay it out no matter the backlash. First of all this talk about all of these chemicals and all of their problems is really not the culprit. The real problem is SIN! And God has cursed mankind and this earth. Since the fall of Adam and Eve the whole earth and it’s inhabitants are in turmoil. God has cursed all of it and one day He will reverse the curse. We all have defects no matter who we are because we are all sinners and in need of repentance and The Lord Jesus Christ! Without Him we can do nothing and we can’t make sense of it all. It looks hopeless but with Christ in our lives we can understand the condition that we are in. All men are condemned to Hell with out God and we need to recognize that fact. Christ can set us free from this curse but we have to beg Him to save us and fall at His feet for mercy from His wrath. When He went to that cross He bore all of our sins in His own body. He shed His precious Blood for us all and then He rose from the grave on the third day and He lives forevermore. He is God in a human body and He lived a perfect life for you. All you need to do is repent of your evil works and trust in Him totally to save you. Cry out to Him and say God be merciful to me, a Sinner! Pray for salvation and then all of these things will make sense. Make Christ your Lord and Savior and believe in His resurrection from the grave. Hell is real and Heaven is real. You will spend forever in one of those two places. Please think about what has been said here and consider this strongly. God commands all men everywhere to repent and believe the Gospel. Keith, it makes me sad to hear you make false statements. Why do you do that? I have spoken to so many well educated people who are aware of the true data. It doesn’t make you look smart; it makes you look like a smart aleck. Why do you want to hurt your own family? Your loyalty is misplaced.
