When I wrote the post about how to heal a cavity, I had no idea that the post would end up being circulated around dental forums where it became the target of ridicule and even anger from a number disbelieving dentists. The fact is that teeth can and do heal, even those in need of a root canal.
Whether or not conventional dentists choose to acknowledge it does not really matter. Holistic dentists know the truth! For example, Dr. Weston A. Price DDS documented many cases of cavities resolving when nutritional deficiencies were corrected in his book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.
While I received many negative emails and comments from dentists (I also received a few positive emails from dentists, I might add), I was also delighted and amazed by stories from Moms just like me who had experiences very similar to my own…tooth problems resolving with nutrition or natural medicine alone!
One of the most interesting emails I received was from a homeopath named Kay, who lives in Australia, coincidentally right near where my husband was raised! Kay wrote me the following story which I thought so fascinating that it absolutely needed to be a guest post:
Homeopathy Instead of a Root Canal
Dear Sarah,
My sister who lives in Hong Kong sent me the link to your site after you wrote an article about butter oil and how it reversed tooth decay when taken along with cod liver oil.
I am a homeopath and teach workshops to parents on how to use natural medicine to raise healthy children, so I was fascinated by this piece of information and it prompted me to share another tooth story with you and your readers about how my son was saved from a root canal at the age of 14 years old by using natural medicine.
Jack had been playing golf with his brother over the school holidays and while hot tired and emotional ( a normal state of affairs for my son at the time), his golf club got stuck in the bag. So, with sheer brute force, he ripped it out of the bag straight into his mouth and broke off the bottom of his front tooth!
We went straight to the dentist who did tests and declared the root was dying and that he needed to do a root canal before the tooth discolored. I told him to remove his drill from my son’s mouth and said I would try and save the tooth with homeopathy. A not very happy dentist told me there was a time and place for homeopathy and this wasn’t it and if there was any remote chance I could save this tooth he would send me all his clients.
I took Jack home and gave him homeopathic Arnica for shock, trauma and bruising. Then, I used homeopathic hypericum, a great remedy every parent should know about as it repairs nerve damage. I gave it to Jack every few hours and then reduced it to 2 x day for the next week. In America I believe you can buy homeopathics in health food stores quite easily, so always have arnica and hypericum in your cupboard for “teeth” accidents.
Today Jack still has his original front tooth with a little cosmetic dentistry to build up the bottom half and the dentist still has not sent me one client!
Thanks for letting me share this story Sarah. Just knowing these small pieces of information can create such better health outcomes for our children and families.
Looking for a Holistic, Biological Dentist?
From Sarah …. I get many requests about who I recommend as a truly holistic, biological dentist. If you are looking for one, I recommend Dr. Carlo Litano of Natural-Smiles.com – (727) 300-0044. He sees young children as well as adults. Be sure to tell Dr. Litano that The Healthy Home Economist sent you and get 10% off your first visit!
Wondering how your hypericum helped the problematic tooth? I have a similar tooth that has sensitivity. I’m hoping I don’t have to get a root canal!!!
How much arnica and hypericum was given and how was it administered?
Its great to know that homeopathy worked for you. as your dentist, many people these days believe that homeopathy doesn’t work anymore. Is there any way to prevent teeth from being crooked with the help of homeopathy? I would love to know if there is something like that.
No, unfortunately the causes of crooked teeth cannot be remedied with homeopathy. https://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/what-really-causes-crooked-teeth/
Giving homeopathy needs to know the dilution…. an error in dilution, and the product does not work! I have seen success only with muscle test methods such as kinesiology, or pulse test, and the vega tester.
@Mary : Use Hydrogen Peroxide to drain the abscess then use the method mentioned above to restore the nerve damage! I’m not sure if it will work but Hydrogen Peroxide works wonders if you have an infection in the mouth! Make sure it is only 3% as higher % is corrosive! It may hurt the first hour because the bacteria collected under the tooth is coming out! Be sure to spit everything that comes out into your mouth because if you swallow the pus, the disease can transfer to the whole body! As long as you spit all the drainage out from your mouth during 1 hour or so (you will feel when it stops)… This may hurt a looooooooooot and some people can hear clicking from the tooth as it readjusts to the proper position it was moved away from due to swellings from the infection! Hydrogen Peroxide is the only thing I know of that can drain out pus from underneath the teeth! I wish you the best of luck! 🙂
Im 45, just read this article, as my front tooth just started with symptoms ( trauma to it as a teenager) and I too want to avoid a root canal. How do I use the Arnica and hypericum? Buy as tinctures and put on gums, taking pill by mouth, etc??? How much and what route is what I need to know please.
maybe since he was really young, the tooth was restored. I don’t think this could happen with an adult but stranger things have happened LOL
I had a filling repaired (wasn’t causing trouble & wish I had left it alone) and started having sensitivity and then pain. Dentist said the root is dead and there’s an abscess at root of the tooth. Anti-biotics have diminished all of the pain though it feels a little strange when chewing. This tooth is a pre-molar. Is there any chance I can cure this on my own? Anyone ever get rid of a tooth abscess? Two endodontist ate telling me this isn’t possible because the body can’t get rid of a tooth infection like this, I’ve already tried clove oil, oil pulling, fluoride rinses, etc. Thanks.
Today I went to a dentist to get a filling on a top molar that was sort of painful here and there the last few weeks. I have severe bruxism and am used to my teeth hurting a lot sometimes, and usually it’s nothing. So I let it go thinking it was fine. One morning I woke up and it HURT..so I decided to go get it checked out. Turns out it had a fracture that they fixed. Since then, it’s been extra achey and almost throbby….so I called them and they said the dreaded root canal might be necessary. I already have one from a trauma as a teen that actually hurts a lot randomly – even though it shouldn’t – so I am super afraid of getting one done on a tooth that I maul at night in my sleep. Any advice??? Help! It’s that balance between being proactive and preventing tooth loss….but also preventing unecessary damage
Hi,
Similar question to those posted above. I have severe bruxism and am sort of used to pain in my teeth from grinding. Had pain in a top molar on and off for mayve a few weeks, barely noticeable. But then I saw it was discolored a bit and one morning woke up and it definitely HURT. so I made an appointment at my dentist, said there was a fracture and filling has fallen, but no obvious root death from the X-ray. But since the filling it’s been achey and almost throbbing….so the dreaded “maybe you need a root canal came up”
Any advice? Has anyone had something come back? I’ve healed small cavities before and have a root canal already from trauma that STILL HURTS a lot from time to time (even though it shouldn’t). So I’m really afraid to get another one on a tooth I clearly maul at night while I’m sleeping.
HELP!
