root canal healing

One of the most popular articles on this site is how I healed my child’s cavity using the protocol recommended by Dr. Weston A. Price DDS, a dentist who penned the incredible book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration back in the 1930s.

Granted, the cavity I healed was an early cavity .. it was a hole in one of my child’s top front incisors and it filled in within weeks to be as smooth as the teeth next to it.

But what about a tooth with a really bad cavity?   What if the cavity has actually eaten into the pulp of the tooth and your dentist recommends a root canal?

Guess what?  You can save these teeth too.

The protocol for healing teeth even in such a state of complete degeneration is described in the book Cure Tooth Decay by Rami Nagel. This article on saving damaged teeth without a root canal provides a compelling testimonial of this approach.

I had the privilege of talking to Rami personally at the Wise Traditions Conference last year.

I have no doubt that our conversation helped to enable me to heal my child’s cavity some months later and write about it hopefully helping thousands of people in the process do the exact same thing.

Watch this video featuring Rami Nagel which describes the diet required to avoid and heal teeth at risk for a root canal. Even teeth that are in need of an immediate root canal can be helped.

If you have teeth in such a severe state of decay and think there is no hope, think again. Proper, traditionally based nutrition can work wonders even in these types of situations where the teeth need root canals. Make sure you listen through the whole video to be sure you understand Rami’s description of all aspects of the diet required to heal root canal teeth. It’s much more involved than taking a couple of supplements. There is no quick fix.

In addition, the diet required to heal the root canal teeth needs to be continued so that the problem does not re-emerge in the future.

I am in this situation, two pregnancies, 4 years of breastfeeding, and a thyroid disorder combined with dairy free (recommendation of my thyroid doctor), I have many cavities, some severe. None, thank God, are causing me constant pain, but the natural doctor in my area says he’s never seen dentin remineralization in 35 years of natural dentistry and wants to drill my teeth to MAYBE prevent root canals. For the past month and a half, I’ve been serious about my diet, following the Cure Tooth Decay diet (as much as possible). I am oil pulling (my gums love it), consuming Green Pastures fclo/bo, liver, raw milk and cheese consistently, and avoiding all grains, unsoaked nuts and beans, and sweet foods (if I eat fruit it is will a protein). And every time my tooth gives a pang of sensitivity I just feel the death knoll for that tooth. I am nursing an 18 month old regularly and working hard to keep my thyroid happy with Westhroid. I wonder if there is any hope for my teeth. I would eat this way forever (I think my body is telling me that it needs that), if I could avoid dental surgeries. I am praying for a miracle.

Btw my dd was writhing in pain end of September. Couldn’t sleep for the pain. Dentist said major root canal needed immediately. We did the diet. In November had her teeth cleaned and no root canal needed.

Anna witherington another idea is to cut them in capsule sizes and freeze on a cookie sheet, then put in a container and take like a pill every morning. This is our solution for my dd. (freezing for a couple weeks also kills any parasite concerns one might have)

Like several other people that replied here, I have a crack in my tooth from a trauma 12 years ago. It’s a front tooth, so not easy to just extract. There is some pain associated with it, and the tooth is yellowing (dentist said it was dying) but the root is fine upon x-ray I so don’t need a root canal–yet. I’d like to prevent having one and also relieve the sensitivity I feel in that tooth. Does anyone know about this or other protocols for a tooth trauma/crack?

My husband has a root canal in a front top tooth that died and was abcessing (had been injured in his teens). Our dentist is 7th Day Adventist but he put in both of the root canals that are in my husband’s mouth…we eat liver, by the way, from our own grassfed beef/goats that we raise ourselves so we know their livers are healthy and clean of junk…

Well, I don’t have anyone with a need for root canals but it can’t hurt to get this in our diet to prevent it. Cathy, that’s a good idea. I’ll have to search for other ideas like that.

Not really. Fermented cod liver oil works well for helping the teeth but if you have a tooth so bad that it needs a root canal, then you need the big guns … organ meats!
