I haven’t put up a Comment Spotlight post in awhile, but I received two amazing testimonial emails recently that I absolutely had to share.
I also have a testimonial post of my own which involves the newest addition to our family.
The first testimony comes from Joyce who used the fermented cod liver oil and high vitamin butter oil to heal her child’s cavity in a manner similar to what I did last year. Here’s Joyce’s email:
I i
mmediately held the book “Cure Tooth Decay” at my local library and read it. It was fascinating to read and realize that you can remineralize your teeth through nutrition. I was so excited to try it.I finished the book and ordered Green Pastures Fermented Cod Liver Oil/Butter Oil Blend and High Vitamin Butter Oil giving all the kids a dose every day.
Just last week Emily said “Mom, I don’t feel the holes in my teeth anymore; look, it’s white”. I looked and couldn’t believe it-it was white where it was black just months ago. Thank you Sarah for your post which saved my girl from having 2 cavities filled. I will continue the Green Pastures products for my kids along with all the great nutrition information from your website.
Thank you for sending your story Joyce! I hope your story encourages other Moms to try the fermented cod liver oil/butter oil to preserve their children’s tooth health and help repair any damage that is already done.
The second testimonial comes from Mary who used The Milk Cure (raw milk fast) to get off her high blood pressure meds. Here’s what Mary writes:
I’ve got to tell you how happy I am about turning my health around! My sister started on raw milk about a year ago and I said, “no way, bad stuff”. Well, I started to do some research and our family is now eating better and drinking raw milk! In fact, I just took some fermented mashed sweet potatoes over to my Mom today.
My blood pressure problems were getting out of hand so I decided I had to do something and do it fast. My blood pressure was up and my knees were bad and I don’t even want to imagine what else may have been wrong with me. When I’m on my blood pressure meds my blood pressure runs about 130 over 80 which is still a bit high. My blood pressure without the medicine and VERY stressed out is about 150/82. It’s sometimes been as high as 175/98!
I started The Milk Cure on Sunday the 18th of March. My blood pressure medicine was going to need to be refilled for Wednesday the 21st. I decided to let it go and see what happened. By Saturday my blood pressure was measuring 126/76 and got as low as 116/72.…(close to my pre-children pressure). My knees are still sore but I am walking normal again. My left knee inside muscle went out 2 years ago this July. I had almost forgotten how to walk. I lost 12 pounds by the end of the fast on Day 10 and an additional 3 pounds since. I decided to stay off the scale and just keep eating healthy.
The first day I drank my 64 ounces and got hungry through out the day. The second day I only drank about 48 ounces and that’s about where I stayed the rest of the fast. 5 to 6 glasses a day and I was fine. I still drink my milk for breakfast and lunch … about 4 glasses and then a healthy dinner. I am planning to do the fast 2 to 3 days a week from now on.
My husband did the fast and his new jeans are now too big. It is a wonderful thing for him because he almost lives off the milk alone. He is just too busy sometimes and he keeps a couple of gallons at work for the week.
I made sure my doctor knew what was going on with The Milk Cure and what my pressure had been at home. He gave me 130/80 as a number to keep an eye on. He gave me a prescription and said if it goes above that and stays up then I need to take the medicine again but as of now I am off my blood pressure meds!!
Thank you Sarah for the time you give to help us all live healthier lives. I am learning something new almost every day.
Mary, this is quite a story. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know how The Milk Cure has worked so very well for you and your husband in improving your health! Getting off any sort of prescription drugs and using food as your medicine is certainly the optimal way to health!
The final testimonial is about the baby guinea pig named Daisy that made her appearance in our home on Easter morning not quite 2 weeks ago. The day after she arrived, we noticed an infection in one of her eyes. Since raw milk works amazingly well in healing human eye infections like pinkeye, I figured it should work for a guinea pig as well.
I treated Daisy’s infected eye 3 times over a 36 hour period and this cleared up the infection perfectly! Her other eye ended up infected as well a short time later and I treated that eye the same way. She has been with us about 10 days now and both her eyes are perfect and she is one happy little camper.
It is the probiotics in the raw milk that combat the infection, so please note that pasteurized milk would not work as a home remedy for pinkeye.
Do you have any testimonials to share? Please encourage us all by telling your story in the comments section.

Isn’t anyone going to comment on how incredibly cute Daisy the guinea pig is????? 🙂
Danielle
Daisy is super cute!!! What a creative & fun easter morning gift! Quick question about curing cavities – I have had almost all of my teeth filled when I was a kid (sugar and bread made up most of my diet….) I am noticing holes in the fillings now 10 years later. Is it even possible to use FCLO and the butter oil to help with that or am I just going to have to get them refilled? I didn’t notice anything about that in the Cure Tooth Decay book.
Sarah, TheHealthyHomeEconomist
Once the tooth is drilled you can’t use nutrition to fix the holes. You will have to get them refilled.

I have the same question as Camaron. I’m 21 weeks pregnant and am feeling good about trying raw milk but at the same time, everyone else says only pasteurized when you’re pregnant. Should I wait? I just found a place in my area where I can get raw milk (and grass fed bones, woohoo!)
On a side note, I had pre-hypertension in pregnancy at the end of March and that’s how I found you and Nourishing Traditions. I’ve made a ton of changes, purged my house of ALL processed stuff, bad oils, bad sugars, etc. I cook a lot more but it’s worth it, and it’s delicious. Anyways, your website has been the biggest help of all. You’ve changed my life. I know it’s A LOT of work for you but we really appreciate all you teach us!
At my last appointment, my doctor couldn’t believe that my blood pressure was normal!!

Hi Katie, as I posted above .. I started on raw grassfed dairy when I was pregnant with my second child 10 years ago. I felt I needed the nutrients that only raw grassbased dairy could give me and that waiting would not be wise.

It is such a coincidence that I just came back from the dentist office and logged on to Healthyhomeeconomist to search Sarah’s post regarding tooth cavity and fermented cod liver oil!!!! My dentist found a gap between the wisdom tooth and the tooth next to it and she is advising me either to take the wisdom tooth out or I will have a very nasty cavity there as floss cannot help me either. I was listening to her with all my attention while my mind was making notes to come home and search for Sarah’s post ASAP..
I started taking fermented cod liver oil/butter oil blend since beginning of April and I am gonna read the post and follow what I need to do to stop the cavity growing.
Thanks Sarah once again for all the inspiration.

My daughter had tooth decay in two teeth, I put her on the Green Pastures Codliver Oil/ High
Vitamin Butter Oil, and in a few months they were healed. We also followed the Gaps diet for that time. What a relieve to know there is help!

LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing!!!

Sarah,
I am really interested in trying raw milk, however I’m 29 weeks pregnant and have some concerns about starting while expecting. I understand that it is much safer than store bought milk but its definitely off the beaten path and wanted your take on this. If I should wait- should I wait until I’m done breastfeeding as well?
Sarah, TheHealthyHomeEconomist
I started on grassfed raw dairy 10 years ago when I was pregnant. To each his own. It’s your choice of course. I felt I needed the nutrients and couldn’t afford to wait .. my baby needed them as did I.
Rachel
I am also 29 weeks 🙂 . I wish I could get raw milk here but my local WAPF leader is terrible about getting back to me on the issue. I’ve tried several times with with promises of a farmer “hook up” but it’s never happened. 🙁 I was hoping to get it also for my son with asthma who could really use it.

I started on raw milk last fall, several months into pregnancy. I am 43, and have just given birth to a perfectly healthy baby boy. I had an excellent pregnancy and a short, easy waterbirth. On the way home from the birth center, we stopped to pick up 3 gallons raw milk. (Not only is it great for you, it is so delicious. I am totally addicted.)

I have been drinking raw milk all my pregnancy (I’m now 8 months) and I have had such a wonderful time so far! No high blood pressure, almost no back pain, no swelling – nothing… And my baby is growing very well. Even the midwife was amazed at how radiant I look. All thanks to raw milk and a WAPF diet.

Hi Cameron, In Jan., my 3 month old granddaughter had to have open heart surgery. When a problem occured, she was placed on life support and was kept completly knocked out for over a month. After 6 weeks in the hospital she came home but by this time, my daughter’s milk was gone. She had been pumping and had about a month’s supply. After talking with me and reading Sarah’s blog, my daughter decided to start her baby on raw milk. She is also using a home-made formula kit from Radiant Life. Not only is GD doing well on the formula but she is growing, putting on weight, having medicine amounts dropped or taken completly off sooner than doc thought was possible. Her heart is healing MUCH faster that it should. We are very excited about the strides she has made and know that part of the success is the formula is she eating. So, do I think it would harm your babe…no I don’t. But, as Sarah said, we all have to make our own choice.

Hi Sarah,
I haven’t read “cure tooth decay” yet but would like to. Do you know if the “blend” would do anything for a root canal/ crown that has been giving me trouble? I have been resisting going to the dentist.
Sarah, TheHealthyHomeEconomist
Hi Teresa,
It would help … I have a post on root canals that gives more info on that if you do a search in the search box at the top of the blog.

I love reading about other people’s healing with traditional foods. The hypertension story hits close to home, because I was diagnosed with stage 1 hypertension about a year ago. I’m still on meds, but have only been drinking raw milk for about a month. I’m excited to watch my health improve as we move closer and closer to a complete traditional foods diet.

Exciting stories!
I had fertility diagnostic testing done over the past few months. Hubby and I have been trying to conceive for about two years. The blood work revealed that my thyroid gland was hypo-active (under active). My first stop resource is your blog, Sarah; it is such a help. I read up on thyroid and foods good and bad for it. These links cover the basics:

So I learned what to avoid, prepare correctly, and now I needed to learn what to add. More Iodine. Sea Kelp and fish are the best sources. Yes, iodized salt has it, but I chose to go the other route. I increased sea kelp by adding spirulina (found at my local health food store. Hawaiian variety) to shakes, snacks, and drinks. Secondly, I needed to increase my fish intake. Fish is expensive, and I can’t afford to just start buying fish at $13 dollars a pound!
A fishmonger comes to a local farmers market from the coast each week and I asked them to bring me some fish heads. Fish heads make great stock and have the best levels of iodine. The best part is that fish heads are only $1.00 per pound! Score! I also picked up some octopus. It was only $3.00 per pound versus the dressed flounder or talapia at $13-$17 / LB. So a second round of blood work was done by my ‘fertility specialist.’ The results showed that my thyroid levels are reaching the optimum level. It improved with diet alone!

By switching from a vegetarian diet to a traditional foods diet (slowly but surely) and refusig to take antibiotics, I have kicked a harmful bacterial infection that I’ve had for over 10 years (since I was 16)! I even managed to beat it when I was pregnant which is the ime I receive the most pressure to go on daily preventative and intense bouts of antibiotics. I’ve refused this for my past pregnancy and my current one. I’m do happy to say that it’s
finally gone and seems I be staying that way!
