Day 2 of The Milk Cure 10-day raw milk fast is chronicled below.
How is your experience going so far if you are participating with us? Are you feeling great? Energetic? Lousy? Tired?
Please post your observations in the comment section to share.
Paula: Slept well that first night. The car is fixed and a new computer is being loaded. Still tired and rather sore so I took a rest day workout wise and had work issues to contend with. I find that I am the hungriest early and mid-morning and by consuming more frequently during that part of the day I need less as the day goes on and the hunger subsides. The biggest difference that I have noticed thus far is that for some reason I am needing to consume a larger amount of milk than I did last year.  Which I find confusing since I weighed about 8 pounds more last year?  Digestion and elimination felt great and “normal”. Weighed in at 117.6 and consumed 14 cups today.
Richard:Â I only drank 3 cups of milk today. Â I just didn’t feel very hungry. Â I also drank herbal tea and homemade kombucha when I was thirsty and not hungry. Â Didn’t get a chance to do any exercise today although felt energetic enough to do some. Â Joints and muscles feel terrific and very flexible. Â Digestion feels very light and unburdened, the same as yesterday. Â Slept very well and had no trouble jumping out of bed at the usual 5 am.
Sarah: I completely forgot that I had committed to go on a school field trip today. Â It involved some hiking, so was a bit concerned how I would handle it being on the second day of a raw milk fast.
The hike turned out to be a lot more strenuous than I anticipated. Â It was a 3+ mile hike, through the Florida wilderness searching for native wildlife. Â While it was incredibly informative and enjoyable (we saw no less than 2 water moccasins up close and very personal – BIG ones!), it was a very hot and humid day and I felt a little weak by the end of it.
I quickly drank 3 cups of raw milk I had in the car after the hike and immediately felt better. Â I was somewhat tired the rest of the day but didn’t get a chance to rest at all as I had to help one of my children finish his Science Fair project among other commitments.
I did manage to spend 15 minutes out on the front porch in the sun with my belly exposed which is so beneficial to the gut. If you’ve never sunned your belly before, you definitely need to try it.  It is so very relaxing and pleasant not to mention health-promoting.
Was feeling so hungry by late afternoon despite consuming 10 cups of milk by 4 pm that I had to take 2 bites of raw gouda cheese to help me along. Â Am concerned that I’ve already lost a couple of pounds. Will go and weigh myself at the supermarket tomorrow.
Hubby was a dear to make dinner for the kids tonight so I wouldn’t have to smell the steak (I want steak!). Â He is not having any trouble at all with the fast. Â I’m older than him, so that’s my excuse!
Took a magnesium salts bath to help relax and detox and felt much better after that. Finished drinking milk at about 9 pm and consumed 13 cups for the day. Â I’m thinking that I’m not drinking enough but drinking any more would make me gag.
Feeling slightly headachy before bed.  Am wondering why am I doing this again? Sipped a cup of chamomile tea and went to bed about 11 pm.

I am on day 4 and feeling really good. I’ve done both Jiu Jitsu and Crossfit and feel great. Did not feel weak at all. I am surprised how NOT hungry I am .

How’s the coffee withdrawal Rick?
Paula
Great to hear on the exercise Rick! That’s what amazed me the first time I did it. Just proves milk is a whole food. How much do you find you need per day?

Day 3 for me. Yesterday was hard, I was hungry almost all afternoon/evening, but still kept to a total of 2 quarts. Very tired in the late afternoon, would have taken a nap, but got company. I slept wonderfully. This morning I am not too hungry, but seem to have a slight headache…just starting and was constipated this morning. Still sore with the arthritis in my hands and fingers. I miss food and eating and thought about that a fair amount yesterday, but really have no cravings. Had an ES foot bath and coconut oil pulled in the evening both days. Won’t be able to get on the scale until Monday, so not sure about weight loss.
Oh, I am 60 years old, Joelie.

I am like Isaiah…lasted 1 day! I did the whole day of March 1st, but ate regularly March 2nd. I was hoping it would help my blood sugar issues, but I was SO irritable and felt nauseous from drinking so much milk. I needed all the calories, though because I don’t want to loose any weight. I struggled to get it down by the end of day 1. I didn’t see any improvement in my blood sugar either (fasting on March 2nd was 115, which is high for even me). I’m glad I tried it anad may try again next year!

I completed 5 days with good results all around EXCEPT for severe constipation. You might not realize this is happening until day 4 or 5. I usually have a BM 2 to 3 times a day so not having one for 3 days was not good. I am a nurse so I was able to remedy the problem but it wasn’t any fun. Next time I will try using some sort of stool softener along with the milk. Does anyone have any suggestion?

I feel well! And I am so glad Richard mentioned joint health, that is super now and I had been having some soreness. I have had headaches in the evening, not really hungry, but I miss color and chewing! I make full meals for my husband, what i really want is a brothy soup. We had a huge snowstorm, and bad roads, The farm is on gravel twp roads and are not yet plowed. I am used to getting milk fresh about twice a week, if I run out I will do bone broth.
I did not plan to eat at the wedding today, the food will all be great and home made, but if I run out of milk, I might have to.
I am 59 y/o-anyone else as old as I am? In the past I have fasted for reasons of prayer, but only for 24 hours w/nothing but water.
Paula
I am 52. Age is a state of mind–we are both young:)

And can I just say she has to be one of the most amazingly in shape 52 year olds around (not to mention flat out gorgeous). Hope you don’t mind me saying that Paula 🙂 Hubby Rick has gotta be one happy guy!
Paula
Not at all. Thank you my friend!

I agree, actually I feel much better than I did 10-20 years ago. I had 8 pregnancies in 16 years (two miscarriages, six children), and I have always been in good health, but I was much more tired then, especially when I was getting up with babies and waiting up for older kids at the same time! I loved that time of life, love taking time w/my grandchildren now. But I am much less sleep deprived now. My husband and I farm and own a movie theatre. Thursday-Sundays can be late, home after 11. But I can sleep later or take a quick nap if I need to.

I am 65 this month. I am healthy except for gall bladder problems. (which I am doing home remedy for) I had my thyroid out when I was 18 so I take synthroid. Other than that, nothing. My doctor has tried to get me to take all sorts of things from estrogen for change of life (which I had no problem with) to cholesterol lowering drugs (which I refuse). All the younger 🙂 people around me are ‘sick’ and ask me how I stay so healthy (I haven’t missed work in over 10 years) When I tell them, they claim it is too much trouble to make everything homemade or they can’t afford it…on and on. Yet, they go in for extensive tests for allergies and take meds and drink diet pop. I don’t get it, personally.
I’m on day 2 which is much better than 1 since I don’t feel tired nor do I have the headache I had yesterday. I was afraid I wouldn’t have enough milk to start out with so I mixed in some clabbered milk with the fresh and drank that. It tasted like kefir. I’ve never done a fast for more than one day before. But this one seems like one I can finish. Good luck to all.
rebecca
whoops i’m on day 4 not 3
rebecca
hello! I’m on day 3 but have not drunk any milk today yet, just beet kvass and a glass of salt water like they do in the master cleanse to clean my system out. Not sure if this is healthy but I don’t have an enema system yet. I have felt pretty much they same except for the trouble digesting and this morning I had bags under my eyes which is not normal. I have just been drinking kefir the last two days and still having trouble digesting. Could I be allergic? I have a dry scaly patch on the back of my scalp that I was hoping to get rid of by doing this fast and I have seen no change so far. The milk I’m getting right now is hay-fed right now so I’m thinking maybe to wait until spring? On the positive side I have lost 6 lbs!

Thanks to all who are sharing! I an so interested in the results! Sarah, would u mind telling me how you overcame the bld sugar issues and are u having any issues on the milk. If one cup of milk is 150 calories how r some of u drinking only three cups and still working out? Wish I was in the south with the sunshine! No exposing the belly here unless you want to freeze! LOL!

I overcame blood sugar issues over 10 years ago when I started eating high fat. Haven’t had any issues at all since then. I’m not having any blood sugar issues on the milk fast it seems. Just a little cleansing issues with the mild headaches and such which disappear after a bit.

Day two went fine. It is so interesting to see how everyone else is doing also! Dinnertime is the hard time for me, but after it passes so do the cravings. I am not sleeping well at all, but that is usual for me. Have had small breakouts on my face come and go already, sometimes they come and go within hours, so wierd! Also will occasionally have very yellow urine, although I know I am drinking plenty. Detoxing? Drinking about 3 quarts a day, whatever I feel like, usually a glass every hour, and have dropped a couple of pounds already, woo hoo!
Britney
I’ve noticed the very yellow urine on occasion, too… but it seems to clear quickly. I’m drinking about 3 qts of milk and another of water during the day, so I don’t think I’m dehydrated.

I am off the cleanse now not because I couldn’t do it, but because I forgot my milk when I went to an all day conference I was forced to attend and had to eat something because I noticed my blood sugar was having an issue. I only had 2 cups of milk that day at 6 am and it was 12.
I started my cleanse on Monday and it lasted until 12pm on Friday. During the cleanse I noticed I was not as tired by day 3, I only napped on day 1 and my cravings for salad and steak subsided by day 4. I still wanted actual food though, but I was not hungry. I noticed I didn’t need as much milk as the days passed. I started out drinking 10 cups. I also slept well throughout the night. My BM were not as consistent as before, not really sure the reason why, but they were still there so I guess that’s OK. I also noticed my stuffy nose was going away. Almost gone actually.
Now I will tell you about the food I ate at the conference (not organic). By 10 am I realized I forgot my milk and was hungry. by 12pm when lunch was about to be served, I know I could not last until 4pm without anything so I decided to have salad. I ate the over dressed Cesar salad and had water to drink. Not even an hour after eating I felt my blood pressure rise and my heart was pounding. I also got super anxious. I kept drinking water and getting up to try to calm my nerves and get the chemicals out of my body as fast as possible, but it took the remainder of the day for that part to go away. When I got home I had some more milk and then finished with a good organic salad.
I am leaving town in a few days, so I will be drinking mostly milk but eating salads and vegetables with small portions of protein for my remainder days home. I planned on finishing on Monday before. I may try it all over again when I get back.

I forgot to say the reason for being forced to attend the conference. It was for school.
