Day 3 of The Milk Cure! The rubber is meeting the road now.
What’s your story and how is your raw milk fast going? Â We all want to know so be sure to share your observations in the comment section.
Paula: Good morning Vietnam! Superwoman here! I slept amazing and feel like I got infused by the energizer bunny. I may have caught up on some much-needed rest or is it the fast at work? One of my clients commented that cow was on to something.
I did see my chiro for an adjustment yesterday and he does do acupuncture, however, I have been seeing him every 2-3 months for 6 years and while my body usually feels more aligned after treatment, this is not a typical reaction.
My energy continued to be excellent all day long and it was a long day all around. More computer issues, worked from 5:30 am until 9 pm about 3 hours longer than usual but energy remained high. Digestion/elimination continues to be great. I did notice a slightly different body odor, almost sweet. Urine smelled stronger. Increasing amount of milk each day until weight stabilizes. Weighed in at 117 pounds and consumed 15 cups today. Â
Richard: Â Got up at 5 am and felt great. Drank 5 cups of milk throughout the day and this was plenty to keep hunger at bay. Â Also sipped herbal tea and homemade kombucha when thirsty.
Went on a mile-long walk and had plenty of energy to spare.
Having no issues whatsoever. Â Feel absolutely awesome.
Sarah:  Still had a mild headache after waking this morning. Nothing severe, just a tightness around my forehead area.  Had a cup of rooibos (red) tea and started drinking milk about 8 am. Headache disappeared by 9 am.
Made organic popcorn on the stovetop for the kids as a snack and it was tough to take – it smelled so good especially after melting coconut oil and sprinkling the sea salt on top!  Oh my, how I wanted to stuff a handful or two into my mouth!
Around noontime, I started to feel nothing short of totally amazing. Could I possibly be over the hump and my body has now cleansed a bit and adjusted to the raw milk diet?
Perhaps the long hike in the heat yesterday helped me sweat out a bunch of toxins.
Making dinner for the kids wasn’t a problem today. Â I didn’t feel overly hungry and didn’t need a bite of raw gouda at any time to keep me going.
I have no idea how much milk I drank today. I just drank when I wanted to and didn’t when I didn’t feel hungry. I’m guessing around 3 quarts but can’t be sure.
Weighed myself at the supermarket and have lost 3/4 of a pound. Not enough to be concerned about and not enough to drop out of the fast.
Took a magnesium salts bath around 8 pm to encourage more detoxing as well as relaxation.
Richard and I both really wanted to see the sci-fi movie “In Time” which just came out on DVD, so stayed up late watching that even though I probably should have gone to bed earlier as I did not sleep very well the first two nights of the fast.
Am absolutely shocked that I’ve finished 3 days of this fast so far. Â I’m thinking I might just finish this thing but still a long way to go.

Day 4 and feeling very energetic. My thoughts are calm and I have quite a work load facing me. This is a blessing! Have been drinking a quart of warm water with lemon and whey. Yum!
Also made some panchetta with gelatin and a splash of vinilla. It helps to satisfy hunger and keeps the blood sugar down. I ate about 1/3 cup and did not chew cause am trying to not work my digestive system so that it can rest while body systems cleanse.
I believe the whey is helping to not get constipated. Fasting does save on groceries and time in the kitchen and with this good energy I can tackle chores that are waiting to get some attention:)

Day 3 went well for me! Was a little worried about the storms and consequently did not sleep very well—- but overall feel great! My skin is clear and I think the dark circles under my eyes are fading! Interesting development! I dreamed last night that I ate a whole meal and was so upset at myself (in my dream) that I had not remembered that I was doing the fast! 🙂

Didn’t it just feel so great when you woke up and realized you have not broken your fast!

Today is day 5 for me and I have been having a very positive experience so far! I have had a simple lunch out twice this weekend with milk and/or kefir for breakfast & lunch. The rest of the week will be milk only. I have lost a little weight which I am thrilled about. The last two days will slow it down a bit but I expect to continue coming off when I get back to only milk for the rest of the week. Next weekend we have special dinner plans so I will be working around the weekend activities again. Since in effect I am losing four days of milk only I will probably continue during the week as long as I can and have one meal on the weekends. My husband has no interest in doing this with me but he has been supportive. He is also very easy to feed so I am not obligated to make a fancy meal for him each evening and that has been helpful. For now I have drinking about 1/2 gallon each day which works out to about 1200 calories. I am fairly sedentary (working on that too!) so the 1200 calories has been more than adequate. I don’t feel hungry so I am very happy overall with this program.

I started the fast on Thursday but also had some brownies I made for my boss’s birthday (shame, shame, I feel so weak!): Day One. Day Two and Three were milk only and I felt pretty good overall, just a little tired, and lost 4 pounds. I’d like to lose 10-15. Elimination was a little slow but that’s typical for me. Today I had milk for breakfast and skipped the coffee and goodies at church like a good girl, but we had a potluck dinner with a long meeting after, and I did eat the meal, so I have broken the fast, but plan to go back to it until Saturday, when we will be traveling.
I’ve been surprised how easy this is, and how little milk I’ve consumed – 6 to 8 cups a day. I had planned for a gallon a day based on my weight. I can only get milk M, W, F as it’s delivered from 60 miles away, so I’m glad to get by on less rather than run out. I haven’t had any indigestion, but have felt quite warm a lot of the time, and I’m usually on the cold side. I also feel like my teeth and nails are whiter! This is a subjective observation; am wondering if anyone else has noticed this?
Linda
your honesty is really refreshing…and just jump back on the fast when you can ….i like that!

Day 4 for me. The pain in my back and legs is more tolerable since my soak last night. I
plan on another soak tonight. I was up 1 pound since yesterday. But I did add honey to my yogurt yesterday, maybe that’s why? I am not hungry and have consumed less milk today than previous days, about a quart today. I was busy with church and babysitting my grandson. I do have a strange metallic taste in my mouth that doesn’t go away. We have a church board meeting tonight and I think I will chew some gum, I’m worried my breath smells? Other than that I am happy with the way I feel.

Yesterday, my third day, went well. I was extra phlegmy, but my energy level was fine. I went for a 2 mile walk but mostly just hung out all day. No bowel movement yesterday but had one today – soft and hard at the same time (weird!). Anyway, I am feeling good, drinking about 8-10 glasses a day (I think). I am a little worried about work tomorrow, and I have an interview for a new job on Wednesday. We’ll see. If work is too hard or I think it will affect the interview, I’ll stop.

Hi Sarah,
I am interested in trying the raw milk fast! I am nursing my 6 month old son and wondered if you have heard of any reasons not to do it while nursing? I wouldn’t do any other type of fast while nursing, but since raw milk is a complete food and I will still be getting calories, I would like to try it. Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated!

Hi Jill, I would recommend waiting until your are finished nursing. No worries .. be patient and enjoy this wonderful time! I always LOVED nursing.
Alpha
I have the same question as Jill, I am nursing my third baby and nurse till I am pregnant again. I do love nursing and want the best for my baby but I would like to loose some weight before becoming pregnant with our fourth baby. Is it the toxins from detoxifying that goes into the breast milk that is bad? I see milk as a whole food and would drink enough as not to reduce my milk supply. I have also just signed up for bikram yoga, that detoxifies your body too, I’m more interested in the weight loss.
Thank you, Alpha
Christine
I had to delay my start until today. So far so good, except that I am craving the taste and texture of food. I actually did start on the 1st, but I forgot my milk when I went out of town. That day I gave up coffee though, so my caffeine withdraw is over. Now I’m just drinking herbal tea and the milk. I’ve also decided to rest a lot this week. I see most people are going about their normal routine, but I sense that I need to rest at least for now. This morning I went to church, and have been in bed since I got home. And, I’ve cleared my schedule as much as I could for this week. I’m excited to keep going!

Today is day ten for me… I honestly was skeptical I’d last this long, but now I plan to continue on! I’m a little bummed I haven’t lost any more weight since the first few days, but the one day I had less than three quarts made me feel weak and a little irritable, so I don’t really want to do that, either. I still feel great, though! Maybe my body just needs some time to heal and rebuild before it starts letting go of the pounds. I guess time will tell. At any rate, I’m amazed how at peace I feel with the unbudging scale! Went on a nice walk with my dad last night and today is gorgeous, too, so I plan to go on another. He pulled out a bag of kit kats last night and apologized for eating them in front of me, but they weren’t the least bit tempting. Still, steak and veggies are the only thing truly tempting. Communion at church today seemed like a completely different experience as it’s the only thing I’ve chewed in 10 days! I’m lucky that I don’t have to prepare food on a regular basis for others… though I will have to twice this week.
Paula
Great job Britney! 3 quarts is about 1800 calories. You may want to reduce it by one cup for a few days and see if anything changes weight wise unless it affects your energy levels in a negative way. Feeling great, being “at peace” and having no cravings is a sure sign of healing and that this is really beneficial right now and most important.
Britney
I’m almost six feet tall with a fairly large frame and about 80-100 lbs overweight… so I would think even with 1800 calories I would still lose some weight. From past experience, I don’t do well under 1500 calories for any period of time, so I am hesitant to back off more than a cup or two… but it’s always been low fat at that calorie level, too, so maybe this would be different.

Kudos to all of you who have made it this far! I would have loved to have joined you, but I think I need a bit longer on the GAPS Diet to work out the lactose intolerance I have had for the past 10 years. GAPS has already improved my digestion to the point where I can drink raw kefir without taking Lactaid: a miracle! Maybe next year at this time I can participate:-)
