Paula: Crashed on my couch last night at 7:30 pm and slept clean through until 6 am. I usually sleep pretty well but it has been most improved and more “restful” since starting this fast. Digestion is usually good with gas and bloating typically minimal or after foods that are rarely eaten but it is nonexistent on this fast. No headaches, blemishes, or issues with constipation thus far. ‘I’m feeling good and energy still higher than usual. That’’s actually kind of scary if you know me.
I am still thinking the increased carbohydrates have something to do with this and will continue to experiment after the fast. Like I said I am a numbers girl. The first 4 days of the fast my calories have ranged from 2183-2663 and I am down 2 lbs although it could be from the heat yesterday and slightly reduced consumption.
Consumed 13 cups and weighed in at 116.6.
Richard: Played soccer really hard all afternoon. Had plenty of energy and the full speed running wasn’t a problem.
My joints and muscles feel fantastic. Drank about 5 cups again for the day in addition to 2 cups herbal tea and homemade kombucha. Sleeping great and everything is normal. I haven’t had any detox symptoms at all other than a bit of weakness/shakiness and some mild congestion the first couple of days.
Sarah: Felt terrific all day long. Didn’t nap and wasn’t hungry except for when I grilled up some grassfed burgers for the kids. The meat juice in the pan looked so tempting. I almost poured it straight into my mouth!
Had a small hive about the size of a dime appear just to the left of my left eye yesterday. No other hives appeared and it went away after a few hours. Strange. I haven’t had hives in decades. Perhaps more detoxing?
Forgot to mention that I sunned my belly again yesterday for about 20 minutes. I swear this helps keep my tummy flat. Have been doing this for years although the data is still very preliminary about the internal benefits to the body of direct sun.
I drank a full gallon of raw milk today as I really seemed to need it. Am trying to finish drinking earlier at night as having to get up to go to the bathroom at night from all the liquids is a bit annoying.
Weighed in again and am holding steady at 123. Woo-hoo! I think I’m going to make it!

I am having a rough day today as I woke up with the roof of my mouth being swollen and lots of mucas. My face and every bone in it hurts so bad. I am truely hoping this is from the detox as I have no signs of a cold. No sore throat, fever, no runny nose. So I hope this ends quickly though It is almost 10 pm and I have felt terrible all day. I had 4 and a half glasses of milk and 2 glasses of water.

I ended my fast already, but I did an experiment today… I noticed last Saturday, when I forgot to wear deodorant, that I didn’t smell bad all day (it was day 4 of my fast). So, today I went without deodorant again and had the same results! This may not be unusual for some people, but it is amazing to me 🙂 Usually, if I forget to use deo, I cannot leave the house! This detox was just what my body needed.

I can’t believe I have gone 5 days on a fast. The first 3 I had headaches but nothing else to complain about. (I never get headaches unless I don’t get my morning coffee so I think that was my problem…quiting coffee cold turkey) I have to say the best part so far is I sleep so much better. I work nights, so I switch back and forth from sleeping days to sleeping nights and that is hard to adjust to, but since starting this, I have been able to sleep both days or nights. I haven’t paid much attention to how much I drink….just drink when I’m hungry, but I’ve lost 5lbs. I can’t wait to get back to food, however. I love my meals but I’m going to eat less and enjoy it more. 5 more days to go. (I started one day later than the group)

day 5 and feeling pretty great! Thank you for announcing the cleanse! I had decided a couple days before your post that it was time for some sort of cleanse, but I was delaying my usual green drinks and all raw fruits/greens due to the still-cold wintery weather here in Seattle. Raw milk has proven quite awesome! My energy levels have balanced nicely, I don’t feel freezing all the time, and I don’t ever feel hungry. The only semi annoying thing is that I have been waking at about 3am since the beginning of the cleanse. Perhaps my liver/gallbladder is working on something or I should stop drinking earlier in the evening to avoid having to wake to pee. Thanks again!

OK! Sorry to jump off the awesome fast! But I need to get instant info on the GAPS diet! My husband has recently been diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (say that baby 5 times!) This is where the bone marrow is making abnormal cells? He has had 7 unit of blood!! He has been recommended to get on the GAPS diet! So I am scrapping. I thought that someone mentioned an interview with a Russian gal (author of book?) Any info let me know! I start my fast tomorrow!! Yeehaa! Thanks a ton!

I believe you’re talking about Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, author of “Gut and Psychology Syndrome” (GAPS). There are several websites, including a Yahoo group. Just goggle “GAPS”. Also, she has been a speaker at Weston A Price for several years, so you should check out their site to at http://www.westonaprice.org. Read the book thoroughly and understand why you’re doing this…the diet takes strict adherence for quite some time for healing.

GAPS – gut and Psychology Syndrome Diet

If you are doing this program – there are support groups on the net to help
Also know that apart from the GAPS book and general guidlelines, there is a GAPS Intro diet as well. this may encourage faster healing of the gut and because it is stricter and more specific about how to introduce new foods, food intolerances can be better evaluated.
Good luck – I found the Intro a great experience and probably should do it again!

Yesterday, my fifth day, was great! I was really worried about my energy levels, since I am a teacher and need a lot of energy. But it was fine! My energy is very even. I was still a little tired in the morning because I didn’t have my tea. I really had no cravings and absolutely no hunger pains yesterday. Food still smells really good, but I am feeling so good that I don’t care. My skin is clearing up, and my bowel movements are fine. I haven’t had any signs of detox. I guess that’s good? Anyway, I feel wonderful! I don’t want to stop, lol!
Also, does anyone else have a white tongue from the milk? I mean my tongue is pink but the taste buds are white. Is that bad or is it just the milk? I scrubbed with my toothbrush and they were still white-ish.
Kathy
Yes, mine is the same.

Oh good! Thanks!

Can anyone tell me if vat pasteurizing is ok? Is it best to stop drinking milk unless it is raw?

Tracey:
I believe Sarah said in an earlier post on one of the other days, to use only RAW milk for this fast.

People here in Ky think I’ve lost my mind…but I feel incredible. I’d only planned for five days so I had a bite to eat last night, but I didn’t feel any fuller or more satisfied and I am fasting again. what I can say, is I have lost a couple inches on my waistline ( I dot weigh myself so no idea in poundage ) and I had no symptoms of pmdd this month. That surprised the hell out of me. I had a friend in CA message me and ask for details of the fast. So at least I have supporters somewhere…

Day 6, no more headaches, joints are great and like many of the rest of you I get hungry when I fix food for others. I go out of my way to make sure it is extra good and pretty because I think it is important to not throw any old thin at my husband because I am on a fast! I must say I am looking forward to each day and the changes it brings.
