Almost done! Â Less than 24 hours to go and The 10-Day Raw Milk Cure is complete!
Paula, Richard, and I are ready to be finished with our fast as you can see from our comments. Â Do you feel the same? Tell all of us what you think in the comments section.
Paula: Slept badly again but I think the dam broke, literally. Â Feeling better, not as cranky, but still tired despite getting 8-9 hours of sleep each night. Â Appetite back, very hungry today. Â Worked out; I had to – I really needed to sweat. Â Kept it a light circuit of weight training and short – about 20 minutes. Â Felt much better after and followed it with some stretching and 2 cups of milk of course.
Still want bacon and meat in general, beef especially. Make that a grilled ribeye please! Â One more day to go. Consumed 13 cups and weighed in at 115.6.
Richard:Â Naughty me. I had a very stressful workday and ended up eating 2 cookies on display as samples at Whole Foods!
Stuck with the 6 cups for the day. Maybe if I’d been drinking more, I could have resisted the cookies. Don’t seem to be losing any weight as my clothes fit the same.
Am happy that there is only one more day to go.
Sarah: Even though I slept very well, I woke up feeling tired. Â Got the kids packed up and off to school and then rested for about an hour and a half. Â Dreamed about eating tuna salad!
No congestion today just feeling low on energy.
Am really wanting to eat and glad to know the end of the fast is very near. I sauteed lightly breaded chicken in coconut oil with a vodka cream sauce for the kids for dinner and the delicious smell almost totally overcame me. Â I wanted to eat so badly! Â It took every ounce of willpower not to sample just a bite or two.
Got a massage to help with more detoxing today and was told that my muscles and joints were in incredible shape with almost zero inflammation. Very high amounts of pressure could be applied with no pain or discomfort. Very encouraging!  I’m sure it was from the fast.
Drank 12 cups for the day and was enough to keep hunger at bay. Â Soaked in a mineral salts bath and sipped herbal tea. Â The best part about this fast has been the baths, no doubt! Â It’s been definitely worth it to carve out the time for them each evening. Â I think they have helped me maximize the detoxing aspect of the fast.

So I’m very interested in this fast… Raw milk in CA is pretty regulated and hard to track down. There are only two dairies in the entire state that can legally produce it for human consuption, and many of my local sources are under the impression that it’s illegal. Anyways, in my online searching I think I have found a local store that carries it, so I’m going there today. Gotta try it! As for the fast… What are your thoughts on a nursing mother doing this fast? I normally wouldn’t ever entertain the idea of a fast while nursing, but since raw milk is a complete high fat living food, I was thinking that it wouldn’t have a negative impact on my milk. I don’t think I’d do the fast for 10 days. I would probably do it for just 2 or 3 days, and watch very closely to see how me and my baby are doing. What’s your opinion?

I was total milk for 12 days and then began to add a bit of food back in. So far it’s just been veggies, meat, a bit of cheese and a few grapes… no more than one meal or a couple snacks a day. I’ve been amazed at now unappealing sweets still are- last night, I was at a get together and there was cake and cookies and chips and hot cocoa… I kept expecting it to be a struggle, but it never was. It would be great if that would last! I’ve lost a couple more pounds, too. I’ve also been shocked at how emotionally level I feel. I’m really interested to see if it lessens PMS for me (we’ll see over the next week!). I plan to continue mostly milk for the time being and keep starches and sweets (besides fruit) out of my diet. I also feel great knowing that, should those food issues pop up, I can retreat to this again.

Day 7 for me, and It was rough. I had to travel this morning, but I was exhausted, so I ended up having coffee so I could stay awake on my drive. I had 2 cups of milk before leaving the house, but an hour later I was starving. So I stopped and got some applesauce and sugar snap peas. Then later I had to take my kids shopping. Again I drank 2 cups of milk before I left, and ended up starving. So I got fries when I took the kids to Chick Fil A after shopping. I’m not sure why I have been so hungry today, when the last 6 days I have been fine with about 6 cups of milk, but I’ve had 9 today but am still hungry. And I can’t shake the exhaustion. I’m wondering if maybe I’m really starting to detox today. Makes me want to keep going past the 10 days. I guess I’ll see how I’m doing in 3 days.

Today is day 10 for me. I woke this morning with the knuckles on my left hand swollen and so sore. Could this still be a die off symptom of some sort?
Anyone do a vinegar bath for sore joints? Read somewhere that might work to relieve the joints?
My plan is to stay on the milk cure for another week. Then I’ll incorporate some bone broth, then eggs and veggies. I’m pleased with how I feel other than these few random weird things that pop up. If I noticed weight gain, I will go back to just the milk for a little while longer.
The test will be the day I try to eat some fruit. Then I’ll know if it was a success in helping my IC.
It’s been fun reading all the posts and learning from everyone!

i haven’t done the Milk Diet, and know only a little about it.
In some of the comments 5-6 cups a day is mentioned. To me that doesn’t seem enough if the milk is your only source of nutrients. If your nutrients are low then your body will cannibalize itself. (eat it’s own muscle protein)
Also there was mention of waking up, and not being able to go back to sleep. During that time drink more milk. The body is probably waking to the need for more nutrients.
I follow(or try to) the Primal Diet, and raw milk is a big part of it. The obvious reason is that raw milk has not been damaged by heat. Just wondering why you would cook your other foods if you apply this thinking to milk.
That’s just a thought provoker for you. 🙂
Anyway, thumbs up to all who have committed to this diet. Well done!!
Rachel

Yesterday was difficult. I made mac and cheese for my husband and wow, that was a hard thing to pass up. Otherwise fine. One thing I have noticed. Is it just me, or do people smell different? Not offensive, just a stronger smell than usual. I think I am going to have days here and there where I will milk fast, or bone broth fast, or a combination of the two. How much Komboucha does Richard drink? That might make a difference as far as milk consumption.

Richard is not drinking about 8-12 oz a day of kombucha I’m guessing.

I started this morning. I had planned to start this past Monday, but the dairy we intended to use has closed. We had a challenge finding a pasture fed raw dairy. In the end we found it by word of mouth and it is only about 40 minutes away from us. SO, we got milk yesterday and I began this morning. I am “morbidly” obese, and some weight loss would be nice, but I am looking to cleanse and nourish my body. I am also diabetic and have high blood pressure. So I am working to health and healing so I can more energetically raise my younger sons and participate in outdoor activities. I took my blood sugar, blood pressure and weight this morning. (not posting those here, but I will let you know of progress) I am slightly nervous about preparing food for the rest of my family and having temptations to nibble. But my plan it to be strong for the goal of health.
I do have a question, is it a problem to only do 7 or 8 days? I had wanted to do the entire 10 days but since I was delayed finding milk, I can’t do it all. I have an out of town trip beginning on the 21st for 4 days. I didn’t want to wait to begin so I am hoping it is alright to do it for a little less time. Also, what do you plan to eat as you begin eating after the fast? And, how often is it suggested to do a fast? I am looking at doing the 30 day fast in the future. Any thoughts on that?
Thank You for you courage and example!!

Shelly if 7-8 days is your number, then that is fine!
