How to Best Swallow Cod Liver Oil (VIDEO)

swallow cod liver oil

In this nuts and bolts video, I show you exactly how I swallow cod liver oil and high vitamin butter oil every day!  My kids take it the very same way.

That’s right.  I’m slugging it down for the whole wide world to see.

You now have no excuse.  This is how to get those critical nutrients A, D, and K2 every single day – quickly and painlessly.   You won’t get enough any other way more unless you eat pretty close to perfect and eat liver 2-3 times a week (who does?) so get a grip and start taking it already!  Ok?

If you have a child too young to take cod liver oil by spoon, you can always try the bottoms-up approach. This works very well for diapered children.

Price DDS.

How to Swallow Cod Liver Oil without Gagging

In the video below, I demonstrate exactly how to get cod liver oil down without gagging. This is the easy process I’ve used for years in our home and it works great for toddlers and adults alike.

Ideally, cod liver oil should be taken with butter oil for maximum benefit. You can get butter oil and cod liver oil from the best manufacturers here.

Once you have established this healthful daily habit, you will be shocked to notice colds and flus slowly disappear from your household. In fact, my oldest is almost 18 years old and no antibiotics have been used during his entire childhood or that of his two younger siblings. Yes, it is possible to raise children with zero antibiotics.  I’ve done it three times and learning to swallow cod liver oil so it isn’t a big drama every single day is a big reason why.

Well, my 3 children have been taking cod liver oil every day for their entire lives (from 6 months on). The oldest is 19. As long as you give the proper dose and don’t overdo, it is fine in my experience.

Sarah Is there a way to cook it into any foods? Would the heat ruin it?

Well, if you definitely don’t like the tast of fish or anchovis, it is a good way to hide the flavor. I wish my parents had done something more creative for me when I was eating cod liver fish oil 🙂

Sarah, since Green Pasture Products now sells Blue Ice Infused Cod Liver Oil that contains CLO, skate oil, butter oil and coconut oil, could you take that instead of the 3 products you use in this video?

No, because it is much more inexpensive to take them separately plus its easier to judge the dosage this way.

I have been using the FCLO/HVBO Blend- Cinnamon Tingle- my 3 kids love it!
Anyway, is there a benefit to taking them separately… what I mean to say is should I buy the bottle of FCLO and the separate bottle of HVBO or is it okay to keep using the blend. Is it cheaper to buy them separately? Would this change the amount? I have been giving the kids 1/2 tsp of the blend and myself 2 tsps as I am nursing. If I moved to taking them separately, would it be the same amounts? Thanks for your website… I refer many friends to it!

    Hi Sarah,

Thank you for you fabulous posts and videos, I really love all the information you share. I have started taking the Green Pastures cod liver oil, but I seem to be experiencing a lot of bloating and nausea and other side effects. Is this normal ?

Thanking you in advance, have a wonderful day,
    Jessica

Sometimes folks can experience this at first .. try taking it before a meal or halving the dose and taking some in the morning and again at night.

Thanks for the great tips. And what about serving sizes for the new Green Pastures INFUSED FCLO and Kid Tested Emulsfied FCLO? What would WAP advise with these products? (I’m assuming WAP serving size would be greater than the recommended amount on the GP containers, but there’s no info about Vit A/D content…) Thanks so much – your input is so helpful!!

Any advice on how to take the oil and reduce the burning sensation on the back of throat? It is pretty bad.
I don’t mind the taste, as I have FCLO in the cinnamon tingle, but the burn on my throat lasts for days. Next time I will buy it with the butter in it and hope it will help, but in the mean time I need to use up the regular FCLO without burning my throat.
I saw the peanut butter tip listed above, but didn’t seem to work…

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated 🙂

We can only afford the fermented cod liver oil. Is there something else we can take with it as a substitute for the butter oil? Raw milk?

      You can make your own butter oil;
Melt normal butter in a pan and skim the foam off of the melted butter, wait a bit, take the foam off again, etc.
