How to Best Swallow Cod Liver Oil (VIDEO)

by Sarah Pope / Affiliate Links ✔

swallow cod liver oil

In this nuts and bolts video, I show you exactly how I swallow cod liver oil and high vitamin butter oil every day!  My kids take it the very same way.

That’s right.  I’m slugging it down for the whole wide world to see.

You now have no excuse.  This is how to get those critical nutrients A, D, and K2 every single day – quickly and painlessly.   You won’t get enough any other way more unless you eat pretty close to perfect and eat liver 2-3 times a week (who does?) so get a grip and start taking it already!  Ok?

If you have a child too young to take cod liver oil by spoon, you can always try the bottoms-up approach. This works very well for diapered children.

Price DDS.

How to Swallow Cod Liver Oil without Gagging

In the video below, I demonstrate exactly how to get cod liver oil down without gagging. This is the easy process I’ve used for years in our home and it works great for toddlers and adults alike.

Ideally, cod liver oil should be taken with butter oil for maximum benefit. You can get butter oil and cod liver oil from the best manufacturers here.

Once you have established this healthful daily habit, you will be shocked to notice colds and flus slowly disappear from your household. In fact, my oldest is almost 18 years old and no antibiotics have been used during his entire childhood or that of his two younger siblings. Yes, it is possible to raise children with zero antibiotics.  I’ve done it three times and learning to swallow cod liver oil so it isn’t a big drama every single day is a big reason why.

We use the butter oil/CLO blend, cinnamon flavor, and it tastes just fine on it’s own. I recommend that for anyone who has a hard time with the separate liquids. 🙂

Is butter oil necessary? We consume lots of raw butter already. Also I have the peppermint flavored FCLO and I put it in my kids’ sippie cups w/ apple juice. I know fruit juices aren’t the best. But they don’t notice the FCLO that way.

My kids watched the video with me, then begged for more “special chocolate” (their name for the Chocolate Cream FCLO/BO blend). They had already taken their dose for the day. Trying different flavors can be really helpful for some people! We also have the raspberry butter oil and my daughter won’t touch it (but I don’t care since she takes the blend), but my son loves it. Soon the baby will get his own dose. I have let him taste a tiny bit a couple times and he is not sure what to think. lol.

For my 2 year old toddler I put the FCLO (gel version) in a spoon and on top I put a tiny amount of 100% Raw Organic Manuka Honey and he’ll swallow the whole thing without complains. For me, I don’t even think about it, but I usually drink something right after (water, raw milk, etc.)

I put a blob in my mouth and gulp it down w/a little orange juice or something. I hate it. LOL

I hold my nose while I swallow it and then chase it with yogurt or kefir. Now that I have started doing this I never taste it all day like I used to. My 8 month old daughter takes a high quality plain one on a spoon.
My 5 year old refuses. He refuses all meds of any kind. In the case of a fever or something I just let it go and he fights the bug himself. But he did end up in hospital on iv antibiotics this summer with pneumonia. They sent us home with two antibiotics for him to take orally. I told them not to send us home unless he could cope without oral meds because he won’t tAke them. Since he didn’t take them and he did get better I wonder what they were for! I did sneak some high quality clo into his smoothies that week, but I don’t think he got much of it in.

Can you please tell me how you take it, as I am unable to view videos due to a limited bandwidth usage clause? Thanks! :o)

Are the flavoured options of Fermented CLO at Green Pastures as beneficial as the non-flavoured? Do you need to hold your breath and chase them with water as well?

Great minds truly think alike – I was just posting about this today, as well! )

I hadn’t given much thought to holding my breath – that’s a tip I will definitely be putting to the test. Thank you!

Do you know roughly how much IU of D is in 1 tsp? I’m wanting to switch to this being my source of D, but I don’t know the conversion with what I’m currently taking.

I think it is around 2000 IU. 1/2 tsp. is about 177% of the daily value. This is for the blend, I don’t have straight FCLO.

I thought that Dr. Price (or was it Nourishing Traditions? Can’t remember…) recommends taking 10,000 IU of Vitamin A. How much CLO do you have to take to reach that amount? And is the 2,000 IU Vitamin D what they recommend? I don’t think the Green Pastures lists these amounts on the label – I don’t remember seeing it.
