In this nuts and bolts video, I show you exactly how I swallow cod liver oil and high vitamin butter oil every day! Â My kids take it the very same way.
That’s right. Â I’m slugging it down for the whole wide world to see.
You now have no excuse. Â This is how to get those critical nutrients A, D, and K2 every single day – quickly and painlessly. Â You won’t get enough any other way more unless you eat pretty close to perfect and eat liver 2-3 times a week (who does?) so get a grip and start taking it already! Â Ok?
If you have a child too young to take cod liver oil by spoon, you can always try the bottoms-up approach. This works very well for diapered children.

How to Swallow Cod Liver Oil without Gagging
In the video below, I demonstrate exactly how to get cod liver oil down without gagging. This is the easy process I’ve used for years in our home and it works great for toddlers and adults alike.
Ideally, cod liver oil should be taken with butter oil for maximum benefit. You can get butter oil and cod liver oil from the best manufacturers here.
Once you have established this healthful daily habit, you will be shocked to notice colds and flus slowly disappear from your household. In fact, my oldest is almost 18 years old and no antibiotics have been used during his entire childhood or that of his two younger siblings. Yes, it is possible to raise children with zero antibiotics. Â I’ve done it three times and learning to swallow cod liver oil so it isn’t a big drama every single day is a big reason why.

Question – I have the FCLO/BO mix gel in the cinnamon tingle flavor. Can I give that to my 11 month old? I tried and it was still solidified right out of the fridge, he thought it was weird and out it came and landed on his chin. I swiped it up and tried to get it in his mouth again and got it on his upper lip and he spit it out again. I guess the “tingle” made him then rub his mouth up to his nose and eye. After that he had a red reaction everywhere the oil was. It eventually faded but I felt bad and wondered if this was ok for him too?
thanks!

Do you have to take more of the emusified to get the same amount of vitamins in the regular cod liver oil (perhaps due to more ingredients)? I just noticed that the serving size on the emulsified is bigger (3/4 tsp vs 1/2 tsp) and the price is lower. Thanks!

Thank you Sarah! That was a very helpful video for me! =)

Hi I need your help, please answer me. I am using FCLO butter oil blend gel non flavour from green pasture. I have bought 4 bottles from the same batches and they were great no smell no taste nothing. Now I have bought another 4 bottles ending 1/2014 and they are so different from previous one. It is more darker in colour, less solid, and smell like stinky cheese very bad. I am concern if it is not rancid cause I am pregnant and do not want to eat rancid oil. Please write me you advice I am shock beacsue the previous batches had no smell at all, lighter in colour and more solid. I always keep it in fridge

I just watched your video….I see you take the CLO and Butter Oil separate….is that the best way or can you get the same benefits form the Butter/CLO Blend work as well??

Hi Sarah,
Just found your website through the Real Food Summit (great presentation, by the way). I was curious too as to your reasoning for taking the butter oil and cod liver oil separately instead of in the blend that Green Pastures offer?
Thank you! Love your website!!

Sarah, We have been taking a BLUE ICE ROYAL BLEND out of convenience — Is there a reason you take the butter oil and CLO separately & not the blend? Thank you!

I have many of the same experiences as so many of the commenters here;
The cod liver oil is actually not bad in tiny tiny amounts. A drop ran down the outside of the bottle the first time I poured it out, so I tasted it and it actually wasn’t bad, just like really strong anchovies. The texture in large amounts is horrible though. I will be trying some of the other tips I see here.
I too have been having horrible burps after taking it, but thankfully only for about an hour afterwards. I have not been taking it long, but they do seem to be lessening, so I am hoping that my body will adjust and learn how to digest it.
The butter oil/ghee texture is gross. I take this melted on some food and it is actually quite tasty! There is no way I could stand to eat it on it’s own. The cheesy smell goes away when you do this too.
If I eat it with food like this, does it affect any of the good properties? Does it stop the cod liver oil and the butter oil interacting with each other like they should?

Thank you so much for this video. I recently bought FCLO and was ready to go and be healthy. Never in my 35 years had I ever tasted CLO and I was actualy excited when it arrived! Boy, was that an awful experience! I knew it wouldn’t be tasty, but I thought I could handle it. I eat beef heart, kidney and liver without problems. The FCLO was by far the most awful thing I had ever tasted! Fifteen minutes after swallowing the stuff I threw up so bad, I thought my lungs were going to come out!
I was very disappointed…how was I going to keep this crap down? I really think my health will benefit from it. I figured I couldn’t be the only one with this problem and did a Google search. Your post popped up and I tried your method. I did this for nearly a week now and can honestly say that it works! At least it does for me. I still can taste it a tiny bit, but it now is just “not very nice” instead of “the worst thing ever”. Thanks for posting! 🙂

Any advice? I am sold on the benefits of FCLO, but my 2 1/2 year old gets red splotches on face immediately after she takes it. I saw a comment somewhere that there is a lot of histamine in the fermented CLO and in many fermented foods (although I’ve never seen any reaction to kefir or sauerkraut).
Thanks,
Carol
